How do you find superstars if you don't play them?

I'm curious. I noted the rotation of Paul Silas today of the Bobcats. Gerald Henderson got the start and produced a great line today (8-11 FG, 3-4 FT 19 PTS, 9 RBS, 3 BLKS, 2 AST.)

He was buried on the bench under Larry Brown and labeled a bust. He was the 12th overall pick a while back. Yet under new Coach Silas, he gets the start and produces and now they've gone 4-2 under him.

Injuries help with allotting playing time, but how can you determine if a player will be a star if you don't consistently play them and give them good minutes? I know this isn't 2k10 or anything, but you have to give talent a chance to flourish.

What can the Rockets do to find a balance to play the young talent CONSISTENTLY that we know we have, yet not going into youth hell like Sac Town?

By the Adelman way: They earn it in practice.

    You're implying Henderson can/will be a superstar?

If we had a young guy with that kind of potential, then they'd play, but we dont.

Practice and Games whole DIFFERENT ANIMAL. Practice is great, but practice doesn't give you the nitty-gritty of the game.

Throw them out there and force them to mess up and learn. lol, that's how to do it in 2k11 anyways. :D

    i kid about 2k11.

not at all. but to get a glimpse of a player, you need consistent playing time.

Nash didn't explode in dallas until he got an increase in minutes.

If players can't run Adelman's bogus "motion-offense", they don't play. Every team in the NBA with a superstar has one offensive play:"Give the superstar the ball and move out the way!!"

I don't think a superstar, but a good role player. Just like the guy who was picked right before him. ;)

Pattersons rebounding has dropped off in the last two games. Coach wants him come in and be agrresive on the boards.

Run them through drills, get their attributes to 99, then play them. At least that was the way past 2k games worked, I haven't played the last couple.

Honestly though, how often do players buried deep on the bench later emerge as superstars? Most superstars pretty much come into the league superstars. You develop young talent, sure, but superstars are always a cut above.

That's not really true for all-star caliber players like McGrady, Arenas, etc.

A lot of all-star quality players (A step below superstars) get it a little later, but we still won't know because we sit them behind no defense Scola and old Battier.

Say it again and again. Team needs to decide if they are wanting to rebuild or contend for a playoff spot. Don't try to both at the same time.

RA rotations are just plain wacky also.

Unless you draft a kid out of high school you know who is going to be a superstar or not. They don't take time to develop in the NBA. This team has nothing close to a superstar or star.

Chances are there are no potential superstars sitting on our bench.

Exactly how you get the prize from cereal boxes in which you don't eat the cereal...
