A Rice grad not knowing how to use the Rep function. Lulz. I guess he's still upset at me for the comment of him wearing a dress to hide his piercings.

Reportedly Bennie Wylie from Tennessee will be the new strength and conditioning coach.

I think Boise State is the best prepared offense in the country week-in and week-out and knows how to maximize the value of every player they have. I'm excited to see if Harsin can translate that to Texas talent.

    Here are the new additions:

Bryan Harsin (expected) - Texas co-offensive coordinator - formerly Boise State OC

Manny Diaz - Texas defensive coordinator - formerly Mississippi State DC

Darrell Wyatt - Texas wide receivers coach - formerly Kansas co-offensive coordinator

Bo Davis - Texas defensive tackles coach - formerly Alabama defensive line coach

Bennie Wylie - Texas head football S&C coach - formerly Tennessee head S&C coach

Apparently Bo Bostad (Wisconsin OL) is on his way to Austin right now as well.

Wow, really? This is something we truly need going to the running game more, and year in and year out Wisconsin is at the top of the charts at running the ball. I was skeert a while back but now I'm more than satisfied! I'm actually elated!

Too bad you can't "rep" me again, texxx. lol!

I love my longhorns and I'm especially ecstatic about the youth movement.

However, it is concerning that Mack has to go out and hire the best coaches money can buy. Doesn't say much about his ability to nurture his own ala Saban, Meyers, et al.

    PS
SEC West is our AAA coaching farm system.

i dont understand that at all. he had the same oc FOREVER. and all his DC are now head coaches.

and i dont know for sure but i assume his position coaches over the years have been promoted elsewhere.

Historically, he hasn't done that. He had a lot of coaches that have been with him a long time - Davis, Akina, Applewhite, Maddog, Macwhorter (I think), etc. But the problems in this program were caused by some of that - they needed new faces and they needed a youth movement of people that were excited again. The best way to do that is to start fresh with people outside the program that haven't been affected by all the problems.

How? Harsin will call the plays and Major will do pretty much what he already does, but for more money.

A ton of schools have co-coordinators.

No, that word describes Greg Davis' body of recent work.

Texas with younger, aggressive, innovative assistant coaches rather than lazy sexagenerians living off fading past glory.....on the recruiting trail, let alone on the field? = cluster, for the dying remnants of the Big 12.

Why? Major is basically being groomed as the next OC. Harsin will do the playcalling while Major will help with game-planning. Harsin is in line for a head coaching job soon, and that timetable will probably accelerate if he does well at Texas, so the thinking is that he won't be around for more than a few years. At that point, Major would step into the role full-time.

I just wish the Texans could pick up coaches as well as Texas. At least the Texans demonstrate eco-friendliness by recycling coaches from the Dallas Municipal Landfill.
