Agree his contract is not great, by any means, but he fits the profile of a young/athletic center who would instantly make our defense better. Plus, are we going to find another center better then Biedrins this offseason with that potential capspace? My only concern is his injury issues but until last season he was pretty healthy.
Adding Biedrins for Yao basically kills any chance to have much cap space. It's one or the other, for the most part.
That is what I meant, if we pass on Biedrins, is there another center better then him to use whatever capspace we'd have? I kind of compare it to acquiring Martin last year, it basically used up all the capspace we would have had but still better then anything that would have been available for that money.
Wow - Yao must really want to play.....I would have thought he would just let the bone heal on it's own..... I mean wouldn't that happen over the next 10 months or so? DD
Okay, I see now. Sorry, I misread your prior post. You might be right. But I'm not sure Morey would hamstring himself that much for a guy who isn't THAT great. Biedrins had one great year rebounding the ball, but that was when the Warriors were playing at a blistering pace, creating so many more rebounding opportunities. Pace-adjusted, I'll bet his rebounding numbers were just "pretty good." Also, to let Golden State out of that contract, on top of the insurance payout, it will take more than just Biedrins. For starters, Morey will want swap rights on their 2011 first rounder--similar to what they got from New York (very limited protection, if not totally unprotected)--along with maybe swap rights in 2013 and/or GSW's 2014 pick outright. (The Warrior currently owe a top-7 protected 2012 pick to New Jersey, so they can't trade their 2011 or 2013 picks outright.)
I thought Dr. Kenneth R. First said on the radio this morning that he would need the surgery whether or not he played again.
I mentioned this before, only treatment for Failed back surgery syndrome is another surgery done by the same surgeon. For Yao's case, his last year's reconstruction surgery is a failure, so another surgery by same surgeon is the only option. Or he will be in pain for his life. I am afraid this is not his last surgery, no matter whether he plays or not. (FBSS)
Good grief!! The same Dr. Frankenstein v2.0performing the surgery. I have lost any faith in that surgeon a long time ago. I thought he was retired or practicing his quackery somewhere else. My wife, a very experienced physical therapist, didn't have a lot of good words for Dr. Clanton aka Dr. Frankenstein v2.0. She also said that the foot reconstruction surgery had a direct effect on the ankle injury. I know one needs to see the patient before the attempt to diagnose, but someone with ample clinical experience in rehab has to know something too. I hope Yao heals and rehabs well though, and for his sake, maybe he should sign with another team just to get out of the circle of the seemingly incompetent Rockets medical staff. Good luck Yao and I hope you get your ring someday with another team that has the best medical staff.
So if Yao has this surgery, it's hard to imagine that ANY team would sign him for the 2011-2012 season until they know for sure he's ready to return. I mean, do injured players get contracts if the team isn't sure when they will be able to play?
Jesus Christ, same doctor? wow...has yao not learned the lesson?? there are so many better doctors out there and he went with Clanton? Wish him all the best~
I have said this many times and Ill say it again. Trading McGrady was the biggest mistake this franchise has made in the last decade. Ever since we traded him our team has gone on a steep decline. He took us to the playoffs with not much help almost every year he was here... now were talking about the 8th seed (I personally don't see us even making the playoffs). Everyone who said keep Yao and trade Tmac... well look at it now. Hey, at least T-mac is playing. And getting better for that matter. We should trade battier, brooks, actually just trade half of our roster. This team is not going to go anywhere, even if we manage to bring Melo or a superstar here its not enough anymore.
I say the big guy one last chance? Sign him for a vet minimum and allow him to comeback as a backup C? I think he has done enough to warrant such a loyalty type move. I feel so bad for him. He once said in an interview he is the unluckiest pro sports player and i felt so bad for him.
