Martin is not so bad at defense, he just need to put more energy on offense.
Not everyone is like Wade or James, who have so much energy that can contribute on both sides for each game. Even for Wade and James, they have to balance for each game.

    Yes.

We have very, very few two way players.

Those guys are really weak at defense.
but each player has some players they can not defend, Like Yao who are not good at defend those shot outside, such as Miller and Bozzer. However, those guys have more players they are not good at defend.

Nice job conveniently ignoring that those Kings teams were top 10 defensive teams.

I think Hayes is the Rocket's best defender. Battier gets the pub, but Chuck is in the trenches. Defensive rebounding is part of defense.

    2010 Record without Hayes 0-3?

Lowry, Battier, Chuck, Courtney and Terrence play solid defense.

All of DD's favorite players are awful on defense... ;)

You just compared Tayshaun Prince and Grant Hill's defence to Chase budinger?

Rodney Stucky and Will Bynum's defense to Aaron Brooks?

Derozan and Weems to Kevin Martin?

All this proves is that it's pretty hard to list any names that are worse than our Fab Five.

He doesn't play but you might want to Add Good Ole' Rick Adelman ,, the guy can motivate and teach offense but D is a big 0

I think Budinger and Scola are closer to the just below average range. Scola shows really hard on the PnR and can actually be pretty disruptive at times. Chase can get up to contest shots quickly if he is too far away and and is of average build for his position.

Brooks and Martin are both physically and mentally overmatched on defense. They don't even attempt to work hard enough to overcome what they lack in strength. Ball watching is already ill advised but they don't even make an attempt to frustrate the opposing team on cuts/post ups or crash the boards. Usually that's the reason why players ball watch, to pick up the flash defensive play. Otherwise you might as well pull up a chair and enjoy the best "seats" Les' money can buy.

See, people don't realize how much BS it is to say "oh, defense isn't his role". Defense is everyone's role. Only one guy can score at a time, everyone must work together to maintain defensive integrity. It's the reason why championship contenders go out and get defensive role players who are mainly stand still jumpshooters instead of going after the best scorer available. It's important, for everyone to play some defense.

We just need a true center to clog the paint and... that's it. A couple years ago we had yao and deke, two true centers that block shots and clog the paint and we were one of the best or the best (cant remember) defensive teams in the league. Our only above average wing defenders were shane and ron(one season). The only thing that we really need is someone to clog the paint and contest shots at the rim. We still have shane, don't have ron but lee and twill look very impressive. Young or old we just need someone thats trully a big and not playing out of position.

Their defense is pretty horrible. You have to watch some games or at least check out the opposing guard's numbers in the boxscores. Prince has not been the same since his injury last season. He is starting to get better. YOu should should check out the pistons and raptors forum and see what they say. They watch those guys all the time.

Lowery is a very good defender and overall is consistent. Scola is a bad defender when he is expected to protect the basket. Put him next to a good big defensive center and he is average.

Martin is below average, but not nearly as bad as Aaron Brooks who is simply a terrible defender.

Wasn't it JVG who played the s***t out of the starters all season only to have them break down in the playoffs.

But At the same time we got some really good defenders.

Battier - Not as quick as he used to but still a good defender and a great Shot Blocker for his position and play defense all the time.

Lee - One of the best one on one defender on quick Point guards I've seen this year, play with energy on defense all the the time.

Chuck- Under sizes, but probably, top 3 best post defender in the NBA. Ultra smart and a leader in defense and hustle like no other.

    ----------------------------------

T Will - (inexperience) A potential great defender with a body type and speed to defense 3 position.

PPat - (inexperience) A potential good defender, pretty good rebounded, good low post defender and smart player.

    -----------------------------------

JJ Good defender but do more bad than good because his offense, not in Houston Rockets Future.

    ---------------------------------------
We got good to great defenders but they are limited on offense or inexperience. Findings the perfect balance is difficult, especially when because of injures Adelman can't find an stable rotation with a Balance offense with good enough defense.
