So..what I like to do when I watch Rockets' games is go onto other team's forum sites to laugh about the crap they say about players on our team or our team itself. However, there are some teams that just have crap fan forums and only about 10 people contributing anything to them. Go Houston fans for making this forum the better one I have seen. I am sure the Rockets appreciate it too (to some extent). Props!
Just out of curiosity, are there any other team forums that rival ClutchFans in terms of activity? I was searching for a Blazers forum on Sunday night and all of the resulting message boards were dead. One of them had a game thread with 10 replies through the 3rd quarter. Weak sauce in these parts. What's the closest thing to CF out there? I'm sure the large market teams have boards, but anything with a rabid following like this place? As the OP mentioned, I like to see what opposing fans say about the Rockets, read about prospective trades, etc.
I'm curious of that also I know Lakersground is pretty active, spurs has their own forum, But most activities are like on realgm
Nothing... Nothing...has a bigger history than Clutch...when it comes to pure NBA sites. Think about it...the Rockets won two titles right before the internet took off, and Hakeem had more international fans than anyone other than MJ. If you ever wondered why so many Aussie's and Euro's are on this site, it's because they chose Hakeem over MJ. Because of that, many Rockets fan sites showed up in the 95-98 era, and Clutch simply did the best job, so all the other sites' member moved to Clutch. I was on the Rockets usenet forum at the time around '98, and someone posted this site. I never went back. Don't really know why a Bulls fans didn't start something at the same time, but Clutch clearly blew everyone out of the water to the point Sports Illustrated mentioned him as best fan site on the internet. Not sure where thesportsguy.com ranked at that point (Bill Simmons) but suffice it to say that only Clutch and Bill actually put in the time at the right time to make it ... huge.
Blazer's edge on SBN is pretty active. its a blog though. but they discuss in the comments section I am yet to see a forum as good as this one is. people talking about insanity on this board need to take a look at other forums. PS: I am glad that Video signatures, GIFs and user avatars are banned here. this alone will make me stay on this site forever
This forum is awesome, but it does help that DD comments enough to make this forum more active than at least 50% of other basketball forums.
Warriors World is run by a guy I know and it's pretty active. It uses something other than vBulletin for the software though, going with kawf (like the old AudiWorld used to use before being sold to InternetBrands who switched to vB and killed a huge forum in the process) instead. I know at one point about 4 years ago it was the 3rd or 4th biggest NBA fan forum, but I'm not sure if that's still the case. Even then, ClutchFans was substantially bigger, getting 5x the traffic.
I'm thankful that I lived in Houston during the ages where I started to discover basketball. Despite the constant disappointments since the championship years, at the very least we have a really cool fan forum. Can you imagine growing up in Seattle? Not only do I doubt they had an active forum, but the team friggin left.
I saw a couple years ago The Golden State Warriors had a descent site. I remember because they were saying how Corey Maggette was the worst player they had ever seen lol.
OMG DUDE!! i do exactly the same thing except i don''t bothr amking an account to comment ontheir forums. I alway go on theeir forums to see what other fans think of our team.
Lakersground is HUGE...its bigger than CF..but more due to the fact that the Lakers has more fans than the Rockets.
A Blazers forum I know of that is quite active is the Blazers team forum on Sportstwo. The rest of the site is almost dead though. http://sportstwo.com/forums/123-Portland-Trail-Blazers
