Was reminiscing the other day about what the internet was before the dot com millionaires and open source social media tycoons took over. Remember those really ****ty, prehistoric looking "home pages" with the drab colors and boxed formats. What about the geocities personalized home pages? The message boards of course (like this beautiful one that survived and thrived and evolved)....the early internet nba rumor sites, the early AIM/AOL chat rooms...the easy access to various versions of "The Hackers Cookbook" and other nefarious tools to exploit people via their IP addresses..... Reminisce. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FiOcVWQY2bc?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FiOcVWQY2bc?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
-The sound of my modem dialing and finally connecting. -Usenets/chat rooms with intelligent discussions -AIM, MSN, ICQ -EverQuest -AltaVista, Ask Jeeves -Original Napster, Kazaa
Original Winamp playball.avi home.netscape.com's page Yahoo!'s "Directory" search (categories) and main page with "What's Cool" buttons.

Fox 26 one time back in the 90's sent peeps to that site... *pr0n, right?*... and immediately changed it to .gov upon their return from commercial break... hilarious stuff... I think we talked about it for hours at work the next day.
Masturbating to pictures circa 1998. Saving those pictures to a floppy disk. Snap.com chat rooms Hearing it from my parents every time they had to use the house phone.
