I originally posted it in the "Official McNair Vent Thread" but I don't think it will get as much play. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/aB2bQTAU-uk?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/aB2bQTAU-uk?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>
So we lost Hitler, and a few BBS posting nuts as fans. . .Reliant will continue to sell out. For all the epic meltdown we have seen on this forum, that will be forgotten once we get in the playoffs next season.
Exactly what has this coaching staff done for you to say WHEN they make the playoffs?? I'm all for optimism, and looking ahead, but to me, keeping Kubiak was completely unjustifiable.
That's some spectacular confidence. NFC South and the AFC North are gonna walk all over this team. If there's one thing Kubiak does, it's fold to hard-nosed teams. If there's another thing he does, it's lose even worse in divisional games.
I'm as mad as anyone over this, but come one. Bucs, Panthers, Browns, Bengals aren't juggernauts. The team will be better next year, the defense in particular won't be as bad. I could see us getting back to 9-7 next year, and I think that's awfully likely. Kubiak knows how close the axe was, that the lockout saved his hide, and that he has 1 year to pull his bacon out of the fire (2 if the lockout costs 4 games or more).
Bucs won't be a better team next year?? Having a young core of Freeman, Winslow, Williams, and Blount makes that offense pretty solid. The defense isn't what it was 10 years ago but again very solid. That's a 10-12 win team next year. I expect the Texans to lose to them next season in Tampa. I'll reserve judgement on the other 3 teams until I see what our defense does. The way they played against the Jags scares me going up against a bruiser like Hillis though. But still, that's 3 of the other 7 teams in those 2 divisions. Saints, Falcons, Steelers, Ravens will all be very difficult. Will make the division games extremely important, even though there will only be 6 of them.
Nor would anyone call a 6-10 team a juggernaut. Bucs certainly put together a much stronger performance this year and have the benefit of coming from a winning season. Kubiak's only gotten .500 in the division twice in his tenure, and he seems to have trouble beating rookie QB/rookie coach pairings, which will be Panthers and Browns. I don't see where your "awfully likely" comes from. The urgency theory doesn't hold water either. Because it sure hasn't affected him at all this season, where everyone in that organization was saying playoffs or bust. He had a lot of "i don't knows" to spew to the public this year and I don't see him getting any new coaching tips from Shanahan.
I'm just frustrated at this point but I guess this season i'll just set my expectations low and hope for the best. that was funny though
