I think the media has a certain responsibility here to speak up for the fans. They are the only means by which we can directly communicate to ownership. If this was New York, New England, Philadelphia, or any other hard-nosed football town, I GUARANTEE those points would have already been brought up to McNair and his cronies, but instead, we're stuck with this namby-pamby, soft as Charmin lump of clay known as Sports Radio 610 and ABC 13. All they do is protect their product, and tow the company line so the dollars will continue to funnel in, and they can continue to have exclusive rights to anything Texans-related. Whoever said that the Texans are a marketing company that happens to have a football division is 100% correct.

^^Partly b/c the "real" fans out there love to show us all how "true" they are by supporting this pathetic franchise NO MATTER WHAT. They fail to realize that they should be undying supporters of the city of Houston...not some old codger's business. Same goes for the idiots that still support Bud's Oilers.

As long as there are fans like this (and there are a LOT of them), Houston media will simply pander to them. Why rock the boat when you can take the easy way out. They've got viewer/listeners AND they keep the team brass happy. Win/win for them.

No he hasn't lost his mind (not that I believe had much of a football one before). But it's plain to me that this was a business decision and not a football one. Simply put, Bottom Line Bob did not want to go into the lockout and having to eat that contract extension he stupidly gave Kubiak last year because that would have meant admitting that he made a mistake. SO he bent over backwards to keep him around and if fans like yourself don't like it, well s c r e w y o u. There's plenty of Texans' Sheep aka suckers out there to buy tickets. With this decision by McNair, he's plainly demonstrated that it's about money and not winning.

Now if things follow their natural course next season, it should be the offense that takes a step backward and I wonder what hand job er, spin job ol' Bottom Line will wheel out for the Texans' Sheep. I expect it to be one worthy of his hero and role model, Bud Adams.

Texans owner McNair says bad year will make Kubiak better

Who gives a ****ing **** if the team sucks?

Bull****! I don't believe that to be true.

Again, Bull****! We all know this to be false!

    **** YOU!

But you just told Bob Allen two ****ing days ago that the potential lockout wouldn't be a factor in your decisions you lying sack of ****!

Bull****! Wade's already been picked to be the DC and you know it.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Do you really think Kubiak is a championship level coach? I can understand you believing he can get us to the playoffs eventually, but do you really think he's ever going to lead us to the Super Bowl? Go **** yourself Bob.

    Edit: CB posted it above

Bob the delusional, dumb owner out speaking again. A day or so after saying he didnt think the possible lockout would have any affect on his decision process thinking on ABC 13's 'Inside the Game', Bob says it played a part.

Bob also says the fans weren't calling for Kubiak to be fired.

Bob mentions continuity makes it easier to be ready. Making changes isnt good when the players might not be around to learn it. (Hey Bob, heard you are thinking about bringing in 34 Wade Phillips)

Bob likes the offense so he didnt want to fire his offensive coordinator errr Head Coach

Bob 'vows' to make 'radical changes' in 2011 if it doesnt work out.

And lastly, Bob wants to remind us all he is committed to bringing a championship to Houston.

Wade Phillips is the dullest human being I have ever met.

The Texans don't have a NT, 3/4 DE's (maybe Barwin) or enough LB's to run a 3/4.

"Continuity makes it easier to be ready, as opposed to if you completely changed your systems, and the players weren't around to be taught the new system, and then you come back to play and you're trying to start out with a new system, and the players aren't properly prepared. That could be a very difficult situation, and we certainly don't want to find ourselves in that boat."

All about that NT. Get a stud in the center, the rest falls into place. Barwin wouldn't be a 3-4 end, he'd need to try and go as a rushing OLB. Smith would make a decent 3-4 end, since he's already a 4-3 DE/DT.

Okoye would be gone in a heart beat. Cody might survive as a backup end. Mario probably needs to be traded out before the draft, but they could try and convince him to give it a go as an end.

But again, a pureblood NT has to be priority one. Get ahead of yourself and you have the disaster that was Washington this year.

Bob think our record is what its because of a bunch of fluke plays! Most of those games where we lost on the last play would of been avioded with better managment of the game. Kubs saves timeouts like we can use them in the next game or something

Various things from the local media tonight about Wade; some stuff from McNair.

Phillips is lead guy though hasnt interviewed. Will fly to Houston tomorrow morning. McNair: We'll evalute our scheme. Not automatic we'll go to 3-4. New DC will have to look at our personnel.

McNair: This season was an intolerable situation. We started well. We won games no one thought we could. Our D was suspect. Players recognize what issues are. There is a sense of urgency.

FOX26: McNair speaking on Phillips and other things: The fact he was a head coach is good. We like that, just like when we had Mike Sherman around. I'm not happy with 6-10 record but wont let emotions get in way of business decisions. Some people feel to be upset, you have to be emotional and jump up and down. Thats not my nature. I'm disappointed. But optimistic because I'm around this team all the time. Go back a year, we were 9-7, people werent saying he was a bad coach last year. He hasnt changed in a year from good to bad. If he has changed, he hasn't changed for the worse. This isnt a popularity contest. This is not a poll or a survey. If it was, we'd have Reggie Bush instead of Mario.

From FOXSportsHouston.com: McNair says Rick Smith will continue to be GM. That doesn't mean that we're not evaluating the job that’s being done. We’ve had some drafts that have been outstanding and we've had some drafts that have been mediocre. We want to eliminate those mediocre drafts and make sure that they are all outstanding."

ABC 13: Bob Allen: Wade will formally interview tomorrow. Announcment could come soon after. He wants to come back to Houston. Bob/Gary want him. Bob McNair: He has a terrific record. Record among active HC's when he was coaching was 3rd. He's been a good coach and DC. He has done it everywhere and has had a solid D.

    And lastly,

Bob McNair one-on-one with Randy McIlvoy of KPRC Local 2

Most frustrating for you as an owner? Where does this rank?

Most definitely. It's the sorta thing I've never seen before. I tell our coaches we go into every game expecting to win but we know we can't win them all. We want to be close and have opportunity to win. This year, we had 8 or 9 games that were close and opportunity to win and only won 3. I've never seen that happen before. Normally, we've always won more than our share of close games that I've been involved in.

I guess the way some of these ended --in your wildest dreams you wouldnt have seen a hail mary or some of these finishes, etc.

No. Unbelievable but thats the way it is. I dont believe in luck. If we could have done a better job, we could have turned those around the other way. So thats on us. I don't attribute it to anything else. I never seen it happen like that.

Talk about the process and decision. Fans confused on why there wasnt a change made. You felt Gary was the right man. But 5 years no playoffs, regression this year. Talk about the process.

Last year, we were 9-7 and thought we might be in the playoffs there and if teams played their regulars, we probably would have been. At that time, everyone thought Gary was a great coach and he was wonderful. This year, he has learned a lot. He is a better coach by virtue of what he went through. He is a better coach than last year. If we was good last year and better this year, I dont see that he is inadequate as a coach. So for us, real question was to look at the team and to see what happened to us and to find out the problem. If you analyze it, we had the number three offense. We scored enough points to win. Our ST wasnt as good as in the past but that is due to injuries -- injuries took guys off ST. Joe Marciano has always had good ST for us and everywhere he has been. Feel like that was a one year thing. Our D finished 30th. When giving up 28-29 points a game, you cant win. Thats the bottom line. It wasnt that everything was broken. Just one thing and thats what needs to be addressed. We know Gary got a great offensive mind. Thats his focus. Thats his perspective and what he loves. Now we need to get a D coordinator who is like that on the other side of the ball. Someone who has a proven record. Thats what we're looking for. If we can find that person and have them work with Gary, we'll turn this around quickly. Not a long term thing. I'm convinced we can do that. We also need some players on D.

WHen you made this decision and told him he is coming back, did you say or is it you saying we need to get there next year?

No. You dont have to do that. Gary knows this year was an intolerable situation. We're not gonna put up with this. We're gonna do whatever it takes. Ive been through tough times. Not the first time I saw an ox in the ditch. We're gonna get in there with the ox. We're not gonna stand up on the side and debate of who can come get that ox out of the ditch, we're gonna do it. We'll take whatever steps we need to to get this D straightened out. We got some great D players. We made a real strategic mistake as an organization going completely young in the secondary. We had the opportunity to pick up a veteran as we went along, we looked at several. Some D coaches said we didnt need them and thought we could work with these guys we had. We went along with that. We all participated in that and it was a mistake that cost us. We need some vet leadership in that secondary. We'll do that in FA. We'll look at other young D players in secondary in the draft.
