Kay Bee Toy, right next to the entrance, my parents bought me so many Transformers there, ah good memories....
Walter Pye's Sakowitz Picadilly's The underground bowling alley. Now to go deeper. Does anyone remember Palm Center?
i remember going to the theater and going to the mall to play video games and the toy store. I went in there in the early 00 or 01, don't remember and it was dead.
Yeah! I remember seeing the first Star Wars there. It's one of my first memories outside of family interactions.
Not to get the thread off track...but does anyone remember the name of the burger joint at Alameda Mall? I used to go there all the time but dang if I can remember the name. Edit: Nevermind. I looked it up. It was called "Farrell's".
remember living in the beatdown apartments across the theater. I also remember coming out the arcade busting my head cuz they had the closing fence halfway down and the hotgirl eating in the food court laughing her ass off. I was raised in that deserted area: willowcreek apts, village green apts, magnolia, telephone rd, canal st next to the herberia haiti where my first gf lived, mason park where they use to have lowriders.
I saw Star Wars there when they only had 2 screens. The line went all the way across they bridge/walkway.
Now that I think about it the lobby also had some great arcades, Track and Field and Punch Out! to name a few.....
This is one of the reasons I've been having a blast going to Barcadia in Midtown. (The Houston site is still under construction, so this link better shows you what it's about.) http://www.barcadiadallas.com/barcadia-games.htm
I saw the movie Red Dawn back there in 1983. Remember so much because it was one of the first PG-13 movies...... And I was only 7 haha!
There was an underground bowling alley at Gulfgate Mall? Where was that at? The only thing I remember being underground was the employee parking, management offices, and part of the old Dillards.
saw one of the star wars films open at gulfgate. Can't remember which one as I was a pretty young guy. I haven't been to that part of the world in a long time but I remember driving by at some point and seeing the bridge to nowhere to where the theater was. Same with astroworld.. a bridge to nothing. Sad for the stroll down memory lane. next time I am in houston I am going to go stroll around sharpstown mall. I hear it's still open and I am dying to go walk around. Apparently I need a gun but in daytime it can't be THAT bad.. If I could play some super sprint at tilt and get some orange julius even better. Doubt that though. perhaps I'll pickup a chinese star then head to dream merchant for a cure t shirt.
