What would happen if we started our best defensive lineup?

    JJ
    Patterson
    Battier
    Lee
    Lowry

This is the best defensive lineup we can put out there.

We can run the offense and generate some postups for patterson and Battier. Lee can hit some jump shots, Lowry can run some pick and roll with patterson. They should get some fast break baskets.

The offense will definitely take a hit.

But we shouldn't give away any layups or open shots, every shot should be contested.

Are we really that worse off playing this lineup?

    Now that's a lineup I wouldn't mind getting a good look at.

Nah, Kmart over Lee and then you have an intriguing lineup

How about our best two-way players?

    Lowry
    Lee
    Williams
    Patterson
    Hill

That is a lot of talent (three lotto picks) with a lot of room for improvement.

I am waiting for that lineup.

Trugoy, We'd still get torched with yours, with Chuck at C not as much, but we'd still need someone better to play that position if we want to go back to being a top 5 defensive team.

I sure wish every opponent would start their best defenders against us with no care for offense. We'd probably win 55 games.

I want to start the lineup of

    Lowry
    Martin
    Williams
    Hill
    Miller

    with the bench of

    Brooks/Ish
    Lee/Bud
    Battier
    Scola/Jefferies
    Patterson

But that will never happen because Scola wouldn't be moved to the bench by Adelman as much as I would like him to. I know you are thinking that starting Hill/Miller is crazy talk but those two matchup amazing together and Williams is a player that can take loads of pressure off of Martin to create open shots for him.

Plus Miller setting up plays with Williams and Martin coming off of picks for dunks and open shots makes me feel fuzzy inside. Add in Hill for length and defense and you have a real nice unit.

even if we'll play seven (JJ, Hayes, Battier, Pat Pat, Lee, Kyle, Terrence) on five, Miami Heat would beat us

We take the Lakers to 7... But is that really an accomplishment right now?

I don't see it will work. We'd lose a lot offense, and the defense isn't going to be elite anyway since we don't have a Yao or Deke in the middle.

Balance team is always better than a one way team. Some nights you need offense to win, some nights you need defense to bail you out.

That's called rebuilding without an all-star talent.

we are winning by offence, our gameplan is simple: score, be aggressive on boards, move the ball and get some stops on effort. If we have offensive minded lineup we should play offensive minded basketball.

I agree but it's not right in our situation because - Scola doesn't in beast mode every game and Martin is not a every night high-perfomer as well

Martin is pretty consistent, ya he's not doing hot right now but he's playing on a messed up knee.
