While it's certainly possible that the Rockets briefly explored a buyout option with Jeffries at a significant salary cut (which Jeffries obviously refused, making the discussion a moot point), I am VERY confident that the rumors of a Jeffries salary dump earlier this year were false.
C'mon guys. I'm desperate for some feedback. I'm rookie and can't start my own thread. News on the cables is that Phoenix is on the fence about trading Nash. There have been talks of rebuilding the last few weeks. That being said... Thoughts on the following gamble: Trade Brooks, Ming, Jeffries, Ish, throw in a pick to cancel out the curse of Jeffries Receive Steve Nash, maybe even Lopez? Steve Nash has at least 3 years left in the tank, have him groom Lowry on shooting. Lowry has already been improving on his 3s - having Steve Nash teach him a few more things wouldn't hurt. If Yao wants to sign and return with the Rockets next season, great for merchandise sales, and if he is healthy even better for the team. Target C prospects in draft and hopefully management picks wisely - which I'm sure he will. In the upcoming years (hopefully sooner rather than later) target Ricky Rubio. Which the Rockets have before. Maybe give up the rights to Sergio Lull and/or send over a well put-together package of the Rockets assets at the time. The more and more I see how Morey is building this team, the more it seems he really is pushing the idea of an 11-12 man rotation like in the Euro leagues.
This is rediculous and just for fun, obviously in reality trades can only involve so many players. Brace yourself. New Orleans gets over $18 million in Savings, Insurance, and Cash this year alone, A solid young inexpensive PG, 2 young players with potential,2 1st, a high 2nd and escape Okafors contract. In exchange for CP3 who is not going to help them win anything before he bolts after next year. Charlotte basically swaps Wallace for the slightly younger slightly better Kevin Martin and gets younger swapping jackson for lowry, taj gibson, and a first rounder They dont save much money this year but will miss out on 3 more years of paying an already old Jackson. Denver gets something for Carmelo and Nene who are obviosly both jumping ship after this year. Scola is a 20/10 player who is a great value at 7.6mil, they get rid of two bad contracts in billups and harrington, they will start the rebuilding phase with under 20 Million on the books for next year, they also get 2 youngsters, 2 2nds and a future 1st. Houston leverages their great depth and mortgages their future in hopes that a core of cp3, melo, and 6 strong others can compete and beat the elite teams in the NBA. they will have $97 million tied up in 11 players (Orlando pays their 14 $103 million) PGaul/Billups-- Minutes 32-CP3 -16 Billups SG Jackson/Williams/Bogans-- Minutes 20 Jackson -16 Melo- 12- Billups SF Melo/Wallace-- Minutes-- 16 Melo-20- Wallace- 12 Jackson PF Nene/Harrington/Scalabrine--Minutes 16 Nene -12 Wallace - 20 Patterington C Okafor/Patterson Minutes-- 32 Okafor - 16- Nene A trade like this is impossible because of its size, but if it werent, which teams would reject it and why? How would you feel as a rockets fan? Would it put you off seeing litterally nothing but new players, or would you be glad to see so much effort towards improving the team? It's Rocket Time!
damn homie! that's craziness! lol If that sort of trade was possible, i'd definitely be on board for that... its definitely do-able if you to separate trades rather than all those trades in 1. But Denver has already made it clear that they want 5 future 1st round picks. They'll probably laugh in Morey's face with what they'd be getting back.
let's get Prince, he still got some ball, give them whatever they want, chase? ok, brooks? ok, just whatever
Stuckey is a nice player for the Pistons, but I wonder if they would take a group of young players in a deal like Stuckey and Prince for Jeffries+Budinger+Hill+Brooks.
Houston gets: Jason Thompson Tyson Chandler Caron Butler Omri Casspi Haseem Thabeet Sacramento get: Luis Scola Dallas get: Yao Ming Kevin Martin Memphis get: Jordan Hill Going off the top of my head,I'm sure the salaries work and in fact the rockets probably save about 6m or so. My reasoning?Getting younger and more financial flexibility along with some upside and young talent. Why should houston do it?I think thompson will be better than hill and patterson and is a little further along in his development. Casspi is a good small forward on the come up who fits well into what adelman does. Chandler is the agile, mobile defender who doesn't need the ball to be effective. Not only that, he's an expiring contract. Thabeet is the furure defensive paint patroller who can get minutes behind chandler. Butler is another expiring contract and he's out for the year. Why should dallas do it? Butler is gone for the year and they have haywood on the bench. Chandler is a luxury. but also they have 2 other big guys on the bench. Their making a run for the title this year and martin would be 2nd fiddle on that squad. Yao Ming is the contract. Maybe he comes back next year and cuban offers him a big deal, who knows? Why should memphis do it? Gasol is the future and hill gives them a young promise guy on a rookie deal. Its kinda like you take our trash and we will take yours. Why should sacramento do it? Scola is a professional and much needed on a team with evans and cousins. He is really the one guy i don't or would want to part with, but by the time the rockets are ready, he will be ran into the ground. His professional and production is worth alot and would be worth alot on a team like the kings. Picks and fill in's can be added or subtracted, but thats my thought about a trade that would benefit everyone involved.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2bbnkm6 Scola/Lowry/Brooks/Budinger/Jeffries Harris/Nene A trade like this will let our two young PF's get more PT. Will put Ish back on the floor which I know I want to see more off. A taller good play maker in Harris and finally a legit big. Harris/Ish Martin/Lee Battier/T-Will Hayes/Patpat Nene/Hill/Miller NJ would supply most of the pick if not all. Losing favors isnt that bad with Scola coming in. Get a good defensive guard in Lowry. (Melo/Scola/Brook = 60point + trio?) Lowry Wtf are the SG's here (lol?) Melo Scola Lopez Denver. Well they can do better probably? Maybe, maybe not. Mass picks from NJ and maybe one from Houston. 3 young players with potentials and a nice amount in expirings. NJN biggest winner here. If thats not enough you could always follow up with Yao/Battier for AI2/Brand/picks to have the following line up. Harris -> Ish Martin -> Lee AI2 -> T-Will Brand -> Patpat/Hayes Nene -> Hill/Miller
I love both trades! Getting an All-Star PG, C and SF in return, would be awesome! I would pull the trigger, for sure DM!
Gerald Wallace from Bobcats, McGee from Washington, Landry and Whiteside or if we could cousins from kings for A mix of Shane, Bud, Jeffries, trade exemptions and expiring Yao . If we could dump Miller that would be nice. Thoughts? Lowry Martin Wallace Scola / Landry McGee / Whiteside.
Miller has our highest PER.....dump him? He is probably a good locker room leader too and someone that is definitely teaching our young bigs the Adelman system. Yeah ok
Nash and Dudley for Brooks, Hill, Budinger, Patterson, and Battier. Gortat for Jeffries in a simultaneous, separate trade (to comply with league rules). PG: Nash/Lowry/Smith SG: Martin/Lee SF: Dudley/Williams PF: Scola/Hayes C: Gortat/Miller
Switch gortat for Lopez......Gortat is not goin anywhere and dudley is not even close...... You eant a defensive minded SF with athletic ability......then you go after Williams from the Hawks.. Nash Martin Williams-FROM HAWKS Scola Lopez FIXED!
