Brooks might still be recovering from his ankle injury but his attitude is just like Ariza. You can see that his frustration gets the best out of him. If he is not fully recovered from his ankle injury then Terrence Williams should be the back up point. Sit AB because as many points as he scores, he gives up just as many. His lateral quickness on defense isn't there yet. He either needs to sit or we just painfully watch him get back into basketball shape. I believe its going to take up to the all-star break to get the old Brooks back but who knows if he will be traded by then.
The ankle injury just slows his lateral quickness, so his offensive skill is off, but the problem is that his defense never was good, so was PG skill. I have said this so long, Lowry is a better PG for this team, it seems to be true right now. With Martin as a main man on the team, I do not think that we can get the old Brooks back because he needs the ball on his hand, which is difficult this year because Martin is a better player, plus that both can not play good defense, it is not a good idea to play together too long in a game.
AB has that "I'm-a-star-and-not-getting-my-respect" pouty look about him. I hope he pulls it together.
Lowry was a diffrent case. He was well but out of rhythm. AB is sick. His strength is his quickness and shooting. If his ankle is not 100 percent, playing him will not make his ankle better.
His ankle is wrong. AB's biggest attribute is his speed. He used to be able to get a shot off or just pass his man using his speed. But he doesn't have a fully healed ankle now. He can't get a good shot off or pass defenders easily anymore. His shots are also gone maybe for the same reason, ankle. You want him to take more shots? You'll be disappointed even more. AB is in a bigger slump than CBud was in. Until he regains his speed, taking more bad shots only hurts the team more. All I want to see is more defensive effort and more passing instead of dribbling for 10 seconds. Play fewer minutes and wait for his ankle to heal.
I don't know when you posted this: ( I hope Bruce Bowen takes out Melo's legs ) I recommend you channel your hatred towards the one player that has caused all this Point Guard discussion, and has caused you so much controversy by you having to defend AB's performance so much on this forum. You should hope for AB to have the Cojones next time he plays this guy to take out his knees. I don't condone nor wish for others to get hurt " well a little bit sometimes " like that but if you had thoughts of Bowen taking out Melo's legs ( potential rocket ), I hope you have the same wishes for AB to Man up, return the favor and send a little "haven't forgotten message" .. In a way that play derailed the rockets start of the season if you think about it. In other words, this is what you should be hoping for...
THE THING IS. He's not OUT OF SHAPE like Lowry was. He is still INJURED. If some player HURTS the team, you take him OUT. Did you see Kevin Martin last night? He barely played. Did you see Chase light it up out there? He played a lot. You don't just give someone minutes if they are sucking it up out there.
I just can't understand the logic in wanting him to sit because of his performance. No player comes back from injury and immediately returns to the level they used to be at. He needs time on the court. And don't tell me he hurting the team. Exactly what expectations do you have for the rockets this season? if anything he's indirectly helping with his poor performance. And did it ever occur to anyone that maybe he's frustrated because he's limited in what he can do in the court and not because of lack of playing time?
Thoughts on the following gamble: Trade Brooks, Ming, Jeffries, throw in a pick to cancel out the curse of Jeffries Receive Steve Nash Steve Nash has at least 3 years left in the tank, have him groom Lowry on shooting. Lowry has already been improving on his 3s - having Steve Nash teach him a few more things wouldn't hurt. If Yao wants to sign and return with the Rockets next season, great for merchandise sales, and if he is healthy even better for the team. Target C prospects in draft and hopefully management picks wisely - which I'm sure he will. In the upcoming years (hopefully sooner rather than later) target Ricky Rubio. Which the Rockets have before. Maybe give up the rights to Sergio Lull and/or send over a well put-together package of the Rockets assets at the time. The more and more I see how Morey is building this team, the more it seems he really is pushing the idea of an 11-12 man rotation like in the Euro leagues.
I honestly think Brooks is the one out. He will be the one traded. But he has been sucking and hopefully that hasnt thrown off his value.
LOL. There needs to be an official DD bashing thread because thats what every thread he posts in becomes.
He's just coming off a serious ankle sprain.. what the hell. Knee jerk threads all over the place, it's one thing to converse about possible problems the team may be having -but- to create an argumentative title and misconstrue the subject is undeserving. Nonetheless.. Nevermind the rookie Ish, the team is doing the right thing, they owe Brooks support in helping him to recover with in-game situations (they aren't paying him max-money anyway; it's the least they could do). And I am going to sympathize with Brooks.. As Most Improved Player-- AB deserves a better contract from his significant contributions last year.
His issues appear to be a combination of not being 100% and being uncomfortable coming off the bench -- both of which can only improve with time. Do I think he's unhappy with his role and contract situation? Absolutely. I'm just not convinced he's "dogging" it out there for those reasons. If he doesn't get better.....then okay. Otherwise, talk to me a couple weeks.
C'mon guys. I'm desperate for some feedback. I'm rookie and can't start my own thread. News on the cables is that Phoenix is on the fence about trading Nash. There have been talks of rebuilding the last few weeks. That being said...
