Why incentive does McNair have to make any changes?

Just curious, for those who say McNair's stupid or crazy or whatever.

I list the following things going for the Texans

    1. Brand new state of the art stadium that should last for a long time
    2. Top 10 valued sports franchise ON EARTH
    3. People lining up and waiting for season tickets for the franchise entire existence
    4. People supporting the team wholeheartedly for its entire existence, all 9 years of sucking
    5. Houston is a football town and will forever care much about football than baseball/basketball short of multiple championships
    6. McNair likes Kubiak
    7. McNair likes having buddies for his front office
    8. McNair doesn't have to go out and find a egotistical coach who might turn things upside down
    9. McNair doesn't have to pay for such a coach who might make his life more annoying
    10. An average fan really has no impact on McNair's life
    etc.
    etc.
    etc.

There's only one reason why McNair would change the HC, and that is to appease the fans. But why does he need to do that?

Let's face it. McNair keeping Kubiak is the most logical thing in the world. Firing him would've actually made no sense.

The bottom line is the overwhelming majority of the things you listed are all fleeting without the wins to back them up. At the end of the day, nothing replaces winning.

    1. Winning

Believe it or not, some owners actually care about that sort of thing.

...unless you actually care about results.

When has McNair cared about results? At least about the stuff I mentioned?

True. But winning isn't everything, it's just something that may happen during the time you own a football team.

He should fire him if he is about winning, Kubiak is one of the worst coaches in the NFL, it would actually make no sense keeping Kubiak.

Am ok if we don't hire Cowher because there are so many good coaches that are better than Kubiak.

Hopefully there'll be a dent in 3 and 4. There most assuredly will if they pull another sub .500 season in 2011.

That depends if he's forward-looking or not. Ultimately, sustaining the value of the franchise and support of the fans will depend on success on the field.

One thing tio mcnair did not put into perspective, is all the talk around the nation that the texans would generate from hiring Coach Cowher. A slot on NBC's Sunday night game or anAppearance on Entourage or hard knocks.

Man, you and me are on the same page. I've been b****ing about this all season. Our cheerleaders wear the most clothing of any other squad in the league.

Sounds like I'm kidding around, but really it does kind of show you the kind of boring, dull, lukewarm culture we have at Reliant. It starts at the top and goes all the way down to the cheerleaders.

Owner is a nice guy who can't bring himself to fire a coach. Coach is a nice guy who gives his friends on-the-job training as assistants and coordinators whether they're qualified or not. Players are nice guys who back their coach no matter what. The roof is closed if it's below 75-degrees outside so the fans can be nice and comfortable. Cheerleaders dress respectable and never show too much skin so as not to offend any children in the crowd.

This whole franchise is just so.....blah.....
