Oh snap. http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/01/02/randy-couture-vs-lyoto-machida-slated-for-ufc-129/ I would love to see this fight....and IMO...see Randy winning.
I think Lyoto would absolutely dismantle him. Randy's money hungry, and this time he's not going to have the luxury of toying with an overweight boxer/inexperienced mixed martial artist like James Toney. Machida's a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and one of the most skilled light heavyweights in the world.
Vera is overrated. Coleman was beyond washed up and Toney is a borderline r****d mentally and physically. Machida would end Couture's career for good.
Exactly. Toney didn't even throw a single punch in the bout. He was so overmatched it was laughable -- a mentally handicapped boxer with no MMA experience standing toe to toe with a 3X UFC champ, Olympic wrestler, and arguably one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. Couture's obviously not the fighter he once was, but he's apparently facing serious financial issues... he begged Dana for the opportunity to crawl back in to the Octagon. He's nearly 50 years old, and will get his ass handed to him by one of the top 5 light heavyweights in the world.
I hope Couture puts up a good fight for all the viewers sake but the outcome could be very ugly for captain.
Machida is very elusive when he's on, but Couture will pressure the Hell out of him. This fight could be very interesting. I could see Couture winning if he can get Machida in the clinch. If Machida can stay away from Randy then he could pick him apart. I like this matchup a lot if it goes down.
Wow just watched the Vera "fight." Most embarassing fight I've seen, from the drums to the slapping. Maybe he's not built to fight, he's too tall that even as a stick he's at 205 and still gases out. And then when he was showing off his nose to the crowd MG said he was "selling out from all angles." I kinda agree.
Forrest Griffin and Rich Franklin are heavy handed brawlers? Really? And Couture is money hungry? The guy just starred in The Expendables and has other projects lined up and now he's going to put them aside to fight a top 5 light heavyweight.
Great Main Event... I scored it 48-47 for Edgar, key rounds were 3 and 5, I gave Edgar round 3 because although he was taken down, he was active Maynard didnt do much, and Edgar ended the round with a tight guillotine choke. Round 5 i gave to Edgar too because he stuffed all of Maynard's shots and out stuck him... Cant wait for the Rematch.
