Because, when he comes back, our starting center is Chuck Hayes, who you just can't expect to start for a championship team.
Why don't we just get to the playoffs first, then we'll worry about championship teams. Do you really think starting Brad Miller at center makes us a "championship team"? Is that you Mrs. Miller? You have to relax, your son is doing just fine, you should be real proud of him.
I didn't take it as complaining... i think he was just plainly asking why. thsi is a pretty legit question to ask in this forum.
That's why AB gets as many assists as Lowry in the past 2-3 games amirite? He's the only one who can consistently create opportunities against an alert defense.
Coach likes to have a low post presence + a big working the high post. And that's what we have w/ Chuck (high post) + Scola (low post scorer) & Hill (low post banger) + Miller (best high post big man on our team). Thus Hill fills in for Chuck and Patterson takes Hill's spot.
dude is too old and slow defensively to play big minutes against starters. also his playmaking ability is put to much better use with the second unit since he can set up pop and shoot players like bud and lee who are good at moving without the ball.
Miller is facilitates the offense for the 2nd team. The first team manages fine with KL running the show. Before AB came back, Miller was NEEDED to smooth out the gears for our 2nd stringers.
Actually, I think Miller's game makes more sense with Bud and Lee on the floor. Brooks might be able to run point, but he over-dribbles quite a bit. He also does not seem to understand the pick and roll in my opinion. I've counted at least 5 times where he left Patterson out to dry when a pick was set for him. I actually found it hilarious when a play was ran for Bud off the screen and before the play finished developing, Brooks drove into a triple team late in the game. I think Brooks needed some time to get back into the thick of things. Back to the original argument. I think Brad Miller being on the floor coincides with having cutters that can finish above the rim. Lee and Bud continuously setting picks and cut (Brooks too) allows the team to utilize Brad Miller's vision and passing. It also neutralizes opposing centers and pulls them out from under the basket, allowing the athletic wing players to have an advantage with the offensive boards. One thing that I've been really impressed with is Brad Miller's use of his body on defense. He's definitely not the quickest of centers out there. In face, he's terribly slow. However, he's always able to plug his body in there and throw a bump or two just to alter the shots of athletic centers. He has a way to put them off balance when they try to post up on him. Perimeter defense is another story....
He's straight trash that is why. Overrated, overpaid, stump. That's basically what he amounts to on defense he's just a stationary tree stump. Slowest player I have ever seen in my life, even Yao has more quickness than he does.
Yup which is why Morey and Adelman always tout the merits of putting Lowry and Brooks on the court together. Because if we can pull it off defensively, it allows Brooks to be the SG he always dreamt of being.
I was excited to see Hill start last night. However, he seemed kind of had that deer in the headlights look for awhile. He made some shots and was more effective on D as the game went on.... But I think Miller would be better. And Miller would make our D pretty bad. All of this underscores that Morey really needs to step up and acquire this big guy pretty quickly. I really believe we are a big defensive impact player away from being a good team.
For those who think Miller can't start, the starting lineup did quite well when Miller was in with them for a five-game stretch in November. Except one blowout vs. OKC, they were consistently giving the team leads in the beginning of halves. The offense and the passing was really great to watch. The problem was that the bench would give up these leads almost immediately after they entered the game. Ish, Lee, Bud and Hill weren't getting it done. It got so bad Adelman was forced to overplay the starters, especially in the second half. I thought the best move Adelman made back then was when he switched Hayes and Miller in the rotation. Miller was working great with the starters, but the second unit really needed Miller's ability to distribute the ball and his outside shooting. He took the pressure off the rookie PG and gave the bench another perimeter threat at a time Bud was slumping badly. IMO Miller going to the second unit helped turn this season around.
