And then guess what, the whole Melodrama gets played out again as Chris Paul refuses to pick up his option or sign an extension. As Lebron and Bosh have proven, these players are willing to give up dollars to get to a winning championship competing environment. Don't expect Paul and Melo to be any different. Winning is of primary importance to those guys. They're going to form another super team somewhere, either NY, NJ or possibly here.

Marc Gasol, 2 first round picks, and cap space with kwame isn't a terrible deal for Pau. The trade looked a lot worse back then than it does now.

I don't have a problem with Chris Paul leaving the Hornets as long as they don't give him away in a trade. If the NBA still owns the franchise this summer, I think they'll send him clear signals he ain't going anywhere until the summer of 2012.

You can't tell me with a straight face that deal was not lopsided in favor of the Lakers.

Jerry West just wanted his boy Kobe to get more rings, that is all. I am pretty sure there were other teams out there willing to deal for Pau for alot more than the Lakers.

An unproven European second round pick who has never played a game in the NBA, two late first round picks, and cap space is not a good enough deal for Memphis to pull the trigger weeks before the trade deadline if they were actually interested in getting the best deal possible. If they were interested in doing the Lakers a big favor, it makes a lot of sense.

he's so wrong. the nba took over so that the team didn't have blow it up and move paul for expirings. as long as the nba owns the hornets they will focus on keeping them competitive.

The trade has gotten better with time. The Lakers still win but it doesn't look nearly as bad as it did back then.

I'd imagine releasing the Hornets name to MJ might be on the cards too.
