That wasn't really a disappointing duo because they didn't have high expectations. T-Mac wasn't a star player yet when he was paired with Carter.
This is a terrible written article. Jason Kidd and Penny Hardaway? Are ya kidding me? Long after Penny was past his peak. That;s like saying T-mac and Stuckey should be a big time duo. Yao and T-mac were the 2nd greatest disappointments (and clearly they meant making it to the 2nd round but that's a pretty bad blunder). It's a really sad story. It just goes to show that even two great players can't do much without a supporting cast - and Yao and T-mac never had that cast in their best years. Hakeem and Sampson? It's up there. After 1986 they were being touted as the future of the league - the new power. The 3rd coast to challenge the L.A. Boston dynasty. "Twin Towers". Did anyone think in 1986 that the next time Hakeem would make it to the finals would be 1994? I doubt it. I am surprised Oden and Roy didn't make this list. Nor Dron and Boozer. But i'd say number one belongs to Shaq and Penny. How does this fool of a writer not mention that pairing?
they should make trios or teams what about "run tmc" the lakers "fab 4" pippen in houston 94 sonics 07 mavs dream and ralph went to the finals so they lived up to their poential at first. the article in accurately stated we never made the playoffs with yao and tmac, and didnt state dream won in the finals, just says he made it.
Garnet and Marbury anyone? We all expected the Wolves to be playoff elite for at least a decade with those 2 budding stars. Just keep in mind that Marbury was generally considered the better player of the 2. That's how good he was meant to be. And as mentioned on NBA.com recently on the MVP rankings, Marbury was meant to become what D-Rose is turning into now.
