For the record, there is a 3.5 liter engine option on the Camry. That version will do 0-60 in under 6 seconds.
I learned to drive manual in Austin (very hilly) when I was 22...it took me a weekend to get the hang of it, and now it's second nature.
If you're a chick, get an auto. If you have balls, stick is the only way to go. Girls will laugh at your automatic tranny, but they might sit on the knob of your stick. 6 speed MT in my Z, 5 speed MT in my Jeep. I would never purchase an auto ever. To have total control of the car gives you hair on your chest...but so does chili.
I'm all for a stick in a sports car (even though autos are faster many times now days) but chicks don't generally give **** either way.
This is overrated. I've driven manual for 10 years. I did it for five years while I drove to UH from the north side and now I work in the Galleria area. After you get the hang of standard it becomes second nature.
Disagree. I did Woodlands to downtown for 3 years and it wasn't too bad but after doing Copperfield to Galleria for the last six months I had to move to an auto. It was just too much.
Traffic sucks regardless of whether you have a stick or automatic. Manual is easily the way to go, such a better driving experience.
I only see a stick. It's manually going into her mouth, not automatically. Stick wins. YOU LOST YOUR MAN CARD, SON! LULZ @ "JUST TOO MUCH!"
get the best of both worlds and get a manumatic car (goes by different names by each car manufacturer)
Meh. I learned to do manual when I was a sophomore in high school and have had manual tranmissions ever since from a Honda Civic to my current (since 2004) Subaru WRX. I want an automatic. Manuals are just too much of a pain in the ass in traffic or driving in the city which is where I do 98% of my driving.
the judgement of manual v auto is similar to "if its too loud you're too old" imo. it's been my experience that young man, behind the wheel of a sports car could be a chain smoking, caffeine addict & still rather driver a stick. OP, DO NOT let your anxiety over a manual trans affect your decision...it will be 2nd nature w/in 48hrs (signed, Epstein's mother).
The whole spiel about being stuck in traffic and driving a manual sucks is so overrated. I live both in Houston and Austin, with the latter having bumper to bumper traffic on hills and I don't mind at all. Learning how to drive a standard takes about 20 minutes. You will be comfortable to drive after two days, and within a week it will be second nature. I've owned nothing other than manual sports cars and the control you have over the vehicle is astonishing. Whenever I drive a friend or families automatics, it feels so sluggish and as if I were driving a boat. I will never go auto, nor tip-tronic/sequential (drove a friends for two months, just not the same) Going manual is like going black; once you go you never come back
That is more than enough to get you a nismo 370z. I've seen quite a few for 25k, just pick one up that is certified pre owned and your set. At that price point, the performance is hard to beat.
Why not both? There are plenty of cars that have automatic transmissions that you can switch to manual mode. Not quite the same, but still, you get to choose when you shift, you can downshift, and you don't have to worry about the clutch.
Yeah, you do get a lot of performance for the money w/ the 350z/370z. I've heard about the rough ride quality as a daily driver. I guess I'll find out. I'd kill for an E92 but alas, I'm not at the point of my life where I can afford to dump 45k+ on an used 08 M3. It's an eventual goal of mine, though!
