I posted this video in the mathloom thread to clarify the whole "72 virgins" misconception and upon watching it again, I thought it's worthy of a new thread, especially considering the number of people on this bbs who are genuinely interested in learning more and expanding their knowledge on the controversial "Islam" that everybody is talking about. What makes this video special is that the lecturer is not a muslim, so it gives an impartial, fair, objective view based on empirical facts in the quran.

This video is a TEDx talk, basically a TED talk that is independently organized, but it's the same setting, the same "lecture" style that TED talks usually are. The lady giving he lecture is Lesley Hazelton. per wikipedia, she has a very impressive resume, and she described herself as "a Jew who once seriously considered becoming a rabbi, a former convent schoolgirl who daydreamed about being a nun, an agnostic with a deep sense of religious mystery though no affinity for organized religion". Her reason for that? "The danger is one-dimensional thinking".

She has done extensive research on the quran and islamic history, and she wrote a couple of books and she's in the process of writing a new one as well. I am very interested to read what she had to say in these books. I am sure that many of you will feel the same way upon watching this video and seeing how eloquent and straight up awesome this lady is.

Without further adieu, here's the video:

great vid, once agian. hope this might clarify for some of the misconceptions i have heard on here if they actually listen to it rather than, as she said ,with their own motives and agenda spin it for how they want or focus on what they want
