My friends i have been a staunch supporter of Brooks staying in the starting lineup UNTIL this season. We have seen this team flourish under Lowry and there is no debate which of the 2 is a better playmaker. The only thing Brooks truly has on Lowry is his shooting abilities. In terms of defense, creating for his teamates, and driving to the basket, which are all essential to prosper at the PG position Lowry has the edge. Brooks needs to take on the same role that jason terry does in Dallas. A shoot first guy that comes off the bench and lights it up. If he is on a roll keep him in the game even in the 4th quarter like last night but if he is throwin up bricks there is no reason for brooks to be out there. He provides nothing else if his shot is off. We have enough scorers in the starting lineup with scola and kmart giving you almost 45. I hope RA keeps the rotation as is and with brooks comin off the bench.....our bench would be awesome.
I have mentioned this before in many threads about AB. He needs to be the Bobby Jackson of Sacramento for this team and Adelemen. He can come off the bench be our sixth man and could really infuse a nice spark of offense we need when the rest of our starters go out. One of the problems we had when he was out, was having a guy that could score when Martin or Scola was on the bench. If he starts and we take out all three to rest them we are right back in the same spot as before. Not having a true scorer off the bench.
Can we revisit this after Houston plays tougher defenses? KL's one liability is a significant one that will be exposed by playoff defenses.
this team would take off if we moved francis to the two. we could trade cat for a pass first point guard and take out kobe shaq and the lakers. omg.
If he can play like last season, I would start Brooks. The bench needs Lowry a lot more than they need Brooks. The bench needs Lowry a lot more than the starting unit does.
From my observations - seems like Brooks always has a much more difficult time getting the team into their offensive set. When Lowry is at the point he rarely has trouble getting the rock to the other guys. Also, Brooks seems to have some trouble delivering the ball to the shooters. Seems like Kyle's passes allow them to catch and shoot in rhythm, while AB's bounce passes always seem low. Scoring: Brooks > KL Passing: Brooks < KL Rebounding: Brooks < KL Defense: Brooks < KL Creating own shot: Brooks > KL Just depends what you want out of your PG.
dude, no need to start a new thread. for god's sake.. i think adelman should decide brooks' role, not you and your friend.
Probably. Francis was a horrible PG and given his lack of success, not as great a player as a lot of young fans think.
I think if we learned anything last night it was that Brooks shooting is pivotal with the close out group, ie the starters, and he is absolutely terrible at creating with the bench group. The bench needs Lowry and the starters need Brooks. Saying Brooks needs to be Jason Terry or Bobby Jackson is just plain stupid.
I always thought that too. Its convenient as a comparison, but Terry was the starting pg on a team that went to the finals. Kidd is the starting pg who can actually guard most sg's. I find it not really worth the time to debate either way anymore. I mostly just sit back and take notes both ways.
What I learned is he was having another bad game, but he got into a rhythm towards the end of the game and made some plays. I don't think it has anything to do with playing with bench versus starters, though maybe you can explain a little more why you don't think he would play well with Miller/Lee/Hill/Budinger.
The starters AND the bench need Lowry. There is never a reason to NOT to have him out there aside from exhaustion. He makes both better.
