They might not tolerate it, but they have to deal with it. ...the 9ers haven't even made the playoffs since 02.
How good would a Houston offense + San Fran defense team be? Both are inconsistent but are expected to play flawless games because the opposite side of the ball are pathetic. With that being said, Houston has a more talented roster if you look at both sides of the ball and has the same record. I think that Bob would fire Kubiak after the season though due to their strong relationship.
Why do people keep giving Singletary credit for anything on defense? The only thing that is halfway decent about the 49ers defense is future HOFer Patrick Willis eating running backs for lunch every Sunday. Next to their craptacular offense, the defense looks amazing... but it's not.
Vernon Davis went from an underachieving crybaby, to a superstar team captain. At least the 49ers fans can thank Singletary for that.
I hope not. The 49'rs have been a complete comedy of errors this season, very similar to the Texans in many ways. I can't believe some of the ways the 49'rs found to lose games. Texans please stay away.
Who is the bigger disappointment? I'll hang up and listen. The fact Kubiak still has a NFL head coaching job is ridiculous.
Yeah, I don't understand the Singletary-to-DC movement. His defenses were mediocre at best in San Fran and benefited from playing 6 games against some of the worst offenses in the NFL every year. And he's even never been a DC. So what is there in his history to suggest he'd make a good DC? If anything, X's and O's seem to be his biggest weakness - the one thing you want most in a DC. He appears to be a bizarre motivational speaker masquerading as a coach.
I can't believe he held on to the job this long. After his post game tirade when he pulled his pants down should have been warning enough. He was good at finding ways to deflect blame -- he would create some sort of controversy with a player so his news conferences would focus on that instead of his coaching.
This. They are completely in the middle of the pack for yds/game and pts/game on defense. As someone living in SF and someone who enjoys sports radio, I will really miss him. The morning interviews with him were hysterically bad. It was a real test of the interviewers' skills. Even when they tried to get lighthearted, it didn't work. "Coach, are you going to get some time with the family for Christmas this year?" "I'm not going to comment on that until I've watched the film." "Film of your family?" "I'm only thinking about next Sunday."
I'll always love Mike since he was one of my favorite players growing up but just don't think he's cut out to be a Head Coach.
Yes, he is a bumbling fool. A buddy of mine was at Monaghan's in the Marina last night when the news broke. Said there was loud cheering and people immediately buying shots as it was announced.
I think it's the nostalgia as a player that has people wanting him as a DC. He's never had DC experience, and that side of the ball in SF has looked good in maybe 3-4 games this year. They can't even suppress the high powered offenses of the NFC west enough to win those games. He was an assistant that got the interim HC job.
Excuse, excuse and excuse. How many competent QBs are there in the NFL? Head coaches who can keep their job in a mediocre team like the 49ers are the ones who can find a way to win with a less than competent QB. Apparantly, Singletary (great as he was as a player) is not one of those.
This is what happens to a coach who keeps putting 10 players on the field and keeps getting penalized.
Bob get him on the phone now please we need him as the defensive coordinator here and fire Kubiak right atfer the game on sunday don't even let him in the locker room.
