Yeah that's true. I just thought that Flynn could've done something else than have each program depend on a disk to survive. At least not for "users." Afterall he's the guy who thought of the wireless thing back in '86. Also, I don't understand the whole ISO deal. Can anyone esplain that to me? I'm not the least bit tech savvy so I was like the whole time. So Flynn created programs, then suddenly ISO came into being, who has a DNA or something. What's so special about them again?
I loved the visuals and eye candy, but the story was flat. I watched the original as a double header and it seemed like they sucked everything from the original and threw it right back up plus a father-son&fake emo son plot. It made the original the better movie plot-wise... I still don't get why The Dude could reabosorb CLU and why they both have to die because of it.
There's one thing that bugged me. Originally there were 3 guys on the Grid: Father Flynn, CLU, and Tron. Who the hell is tron?? I assume he was a program created by Flynn to help fix up the Grid. Was he also the guy on the video game cover? Why was the movie named after a character who barely got any screen time? What was so special about him?
Tron was Capt. Sheridan's program that was sent in the first movie to defeat a program from the first movie. The biggest mistake was to neuter its name sake for more screentime with the son. I would've liked an act where The Dude liberates Tron rather than the scenes with a Merovingian ripoff from the Matrix. Something like moving the games tournament onto the forefront to lure out Bridges.
Tron was a program created, not by Flynn, but by Alan Bradley. He was supposedly the ultimate security program, serving as a kind of watchdog. Alan claimed Tron was even robust enough to monitor and shutdown the Master Control Program, which made Dillinger (the bad guy in the first movie) rather nervous, since he was using the MCP (or the MCP was using him?) to take over everything. As a result, Tron was made a target for deresolution. When Flynn enters into the computer-world, he and Tron join forces to defeat the MCP and, by extension, Dillinger. So while Tron wasn't the lead character in the film, he was quite important in the original film, and was even the one who dealt the final death blow to the MCP. True, he wasn't important at all in the second film, but they weren't about to change the title on a 28-year-later sequel.
The intro of Dillinger's son . . . without ANY Fanfare beyond that . . . [Was it the guy that played the Scarecrow in the Batman Movie] That just screamed TRON 3 IS COMING Rocket River
Hmm... -Falls asleep during loud, bright action movie -Equates computers to nerds -Sees bible stuff everywhere -Complains about wasted money MadMax's movie review credibility has now officially shifted to 'old fart' zone.
loved Black Swan, the only other movie i've seen this holiday season. this movie was just crap. sorry nerds!!!! honestly, i enjoy so much MOST movies i see, that when i tell you i didn't enjoy a particular movie, you should all pay attention.
The ISO(Quorra) was very poorly devise and full of nonsense fantasy. I can't believe they can't come up with something more plausible. It would be interesting if she was created through the genetic coding. The ending was pure stupidity. I did enjoy the movie but I can't believe they can't even come up with something more interesting and enlightenment than the overtones of the Christian Symbolism. This movie was made for idiots and very disappointing.
Lol Or you can listen to most of the other people in this thread saying it was a pretty good movie. I enjoyed it. Nothing spectacular except for a few action sequences, but very enjoyable.
I didn't watch the first movie but to me, beyond the techie stuff, the movie was about the love of a father to his son.
