Game over - 86 nonstop hours later October 09 2002 at 10:53AM Seoul, South Korea - A 24-year-old South Korean man died after playing computer games nonstop for 86 hours, said police on Wednesday. The jobless man, identified by police only by his last name Kim, was found dead on Tuesday at an Internet cafe in Kwangju, 260km south-west of Seoul, they said. Quoting witnesses, police detective Oh Myong-sik in Kwangju said the man had been virtually glued to the computer since late on Friday and had no decent sleep and meals. The man collapsed in front of the counter desk but soon regained his consciousness. He then went to the toilet where he was found dead, said the police officer. An initial investigation ruled out the possibility of murder, said police. South Korea is among the world's most Internet-savvy nations with more than half of its 47 million people having access to the Internet. South Korea has about 22 000 Internet cafes, also known as PC rooms. Many PC rooms are open 24 hours, but no minors are allowed after 10pm.
When I was a student at UH, I know there were at least 3-4 guys who never left the computer room in Oberholtzer Hall. They didn't actually die, but they definitely smelled dead.
You guys need to get up a good fantasy basketball game. All of the ones out there suck right now. I'd do it myself, but don't know where to start.
Well, we used to have a good one, but the NBA wanted way too much money to make it even close to profitable. I'm still trying to come up with some sort of game though. Last year we had a Survival type game, but I don't think we're going to do that this year.
Damn...I love games and all...but I don't think I could do anything for 86 hours without getting terribly bored...not to mention sleepy.
Hey! I am shocked that y'all would actually enjoy a laugh when someone died in this case. Blah blah respect blah motorcycles blah blah wall blah the dead blah.
Some journalism...the least they can do is find out what game he was playing for 86 hours. It must have been some type of p*rn game. He was spent afterwards.
Well, at least this guy won't be alone in the new "moron wing" recently built in heaven... thread lock in 5...4...3...2...1...
I wouldn't be surprised if it was EverQuest - that game was humongous in Korea. I've seen it referred to as EverCrack due to its incredibly addictive gameplay. They take gaming in Korea very, very seriously... gang brawls and killings over games happen all the time.
He then went to the toilet where he was found dead, said the police officer. Rumor has it he died on one of Rikki Rockett's toilets:
