lol, u mad? choosing my statement, prefaced by the fact that I am not an identified Christian, is most definitely picking on the wrong quote. I personally have no problem with non-christians saying Merry Christmas or Christians celebrating the birth of Jesus for that matter. this is a really ugly thread and I'm sorry I got involved on a special day.
I think many Christians would debate this, but seeing as it's a religious argument, I'm not sure if any conclusion would be arrived at between "believers" and "non-believers".
I don't see Christmas as a Christian holiday - I mean it is for most people. But it's also just a holiday for giving and hoping for peace and that goes all around the world. Many non-Christians celebrate Christmas who aren't even religious. It's just a nice way to spend time with family and look at lights and people are in a good mood so it's all cool.
Do you think Pagans got a little frustrated when some Christians tried to force their beliefs into their solstice party?
I celebrate Christmas as the birth of Jesus Christ, the son of God. ...and I do so even thought the date of Dec. 25th is not the true day of his birth (because the true day of his birth is unknown). ...and I do so even if the original significance of the date was to remove its popularity as a pagan holiday. ...and I do so even if people were around before Jesus. ...and, although I (as a Christian) feel that all others should do the same, I try not to push my beliefs onto others who have different beliefs than me.
I've seen scholars "ballpark" it as being in July or August. I think Jesus was also born in 2-6 BC. Yes, Jesus was born "Before Christ", at least in the Gregorian calendar.
Christ already was a celestial being before he was born onto earth. I will let you find out his Celestial name. *Hint* he was the first and only creation made by his father alone. Then both created the rest.
That will be split between creationism vs evolution. One group will not acept the other. So that will be a stalemate.
I know this is not the D&D, but coming from someone that is constantly "outraged" when he feels that his religion islam and his "prophet" are "disrespected", this post is rather noteworthy.
You're both completely ignoring context. I was responding to a poster that said the only reason people are alive today is because of "Jesus' birth and death." So whether or not Jesus existed as some unphysical being before everything else in creation is irrelevant. People did exist before the birth of Jesus roughly 2000 years ago and that's what I was talking about.
