The official word from the club is supposed to come sometime today, although it will probably just be a press release.
I recently upgraded to digital cable on one of my TVs. On the nondigital cable TV's Channel 51 does not come in very clear and the quality of the picture is worse than any other channel. I wonder if a cable amplifier would help? On the digital cable TV with a converter box, the picture quality is much better (although not as sharp as some other channels) and I think it will be acceptable for games.
hahah the only good shows they have on 51 is.... is... ummm that show with.. uhhh.. nevermind cant wait for tomm.
I constantly check the quality of the picture on that channel. I don't why, but I just want to make sure that nothing goes wrong for tomorrow night!!! I have Time Warner on speed dial now.
Hi I live in Beaumont area and i have direct tv, i also can pick up channel "click 2 /nbc" from Houston, just wondering if it is a channel 51 yall talking about.. can anybody tell me. thank you very much for your help...
vtkp99 If I read your post right to answer your question, no; channel two NBC is not the channel 51 everyone is talking about. Channel 51 can be found on the channel 2 on digital cable; I hope this help you out.
Now I'm real confused. According to Charlie Palilo from Sportsradio 610: This goes against what I've heard, what the 51 promos are saying, and what Jeff has said here in the board. It WOULD explain the delay in an "official announcement" though, and I doubt CP just pulled his comment out of the air... I guess all we can do is wait and see.
Well, that was a short wait http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Rockets_Announce_New_Broadcast-54739-34.html 49 games will be aired free OTA. That's pretty cool, although we are back to having to look at the schedule to see who will be broadcasting them on any given evening...
Ch. 51 comes aite for me and i got time warner. It should be aite........as long as FSN is still w/ us. Cross ur fingers!
I agree with most people. I think ch 51 sucks. Why aren't they with UPN? Didn't they just sign a new deal last year?
I have Time Warner Digital cable and the reception for last nights game was terrible. I sent the following email to their customer service deptment this morning: To whom it may concern, Channel 51 (channel 2 on Time Warner) will be carrying Rockets games this year. Last night was the 1st preseason game. The reception was terrible. There was massive cross-feed from another channel. I assume that this is from channel 2. This is going to anger Rockets fans on a regular basis unless corrected. It also makes your ads where you tell people that rain can interfere with sports events on satellite dish look pretty silly - it wasn't raining last night, and the Rockets game still looked lousy on cable! Expect a lot of emails like this, until you correct the problem! An unhappy Time Warner customer, If enough people here send similiar emails (not the same one, please!), it might move TW to do something.
What section of town are yall in? I'm on the east side outside the beltway and the signal on TW dig cable channel2 was just as good for me as the others...maybe this is a problem for those on the west side since KPRC's transmitter is so close .. After hearing all the complaints from you guys here, I feel so fortunate that my signal comes in good.
VOICE OF REASON. First off I used to work for TCI Cable and TimeWarner. 51 broadcast their station via the air to your little cheap set of rabbit ears. This is the reason that lots of people buy basic cable. Meaning you get around 22 channels. Basic cable is the way to go to get good local channel reception. TimeWarner has really good antennas that are very tall and are cut to receive the channels wave form. No need to go into a wave form. TimeWarner has their large expensive antenna located at the main office on Tidwell. Then the RF(local stations) is piped into the Headend which then is modulated into different frequencies that are put into different channels areas. 51 has no pull/clout so they are put on one of the worst channels on cable. Bottom line here is that If you have cable TV from TimeWarner and the reception is bad, ghosting, snowy, rolling lines, and a boat line of other stuff, it CAN be fixed by the cable company. All of the problems except "snowy"(low signal) is caused from a leak in the system. Dog chews on the cable in your yard. Digging crew nicked the feeder cable underground. Tap,connectors, and those piece of junk cables that slid onto your VCR and TV are trash. They leak worse than anything. There is not enough frequencies to go around so some cable channels are put on some of the same frequencies in the air. This is the reason that cable wire is sealed with foil and a braided wire jacket. Stop the leaks and the double images and sound distortion will go away. Call and have a service tech come out and check for cable signal strength and for leaks in the system. They have snifers that can find leaks. Converter boxes don't help unless you have a leak from the box to the TV. If you had double vision on your TV and no that you have a box installed and the ghosting is gone than you have a leak from the box to the TV. The set top box changes all channels to channel 3. There is nothing in the air that affects channel 3. Therefore no more problem. Well if the leak is before the box then it will still show up. Also if you have digital cable and you can't receive some of the "DIGITAL" channels it is due to leakage. All things are due to three problems, low signal, leakage and AC current on the line. If you get digital cable your channel 51 is still analog. Don't let some salesman tell you that all of your channels are going to be digital. There is to much to write but if anyone has any questions just post them and I will check back to answer them. Ex, Cable Guy.
51 has never carried the Rockets games. I don't know what you're talking about. 55 however, did carry Rockets games at the beginning of the season I think 2 years ago it was. 51 has never had the Rockets until now. 51 sucks without cable and Directv pisses me off that they refuse to carry them. I thought Directv customers paid them for SERVICE? I guess not since they won't carry a station that a lot of people want, not just Rocket fans but Astros fans too.
