I bought a cheap generic chinese brand heater made in china for $50 that i have been using for close to 6 years now. before this, i bought an expensive quality euro brand heater, that is quite well known here, for $380 and it broke down after 1.5 years.

    i guess it depends

Back in the 70s and early 80s, "Made In Japan" used to be a joke like "Made In China". Things change. China now isn't the same as China from 10-15 years ago. Get over it. Pretty soon if not already, people in China will be making "Made In USA" jokes.

That is the whole point, I did not go for a better deal.

I purposefully went way outside the realm of my normal spending habits to get something that was purported as top of the line.

Can you blame me for being a little upset after seeing a sticker on it that screams "we tried to save a buck or two on materials/production costs by using what was most likely the cheapest bidder"? Especially after being purposefully led to believe the opposite?

If I'm wrong, and these turn out to be the best sunglasses I've ever owned, I will *gladly* admit I jumped to conclusions. If the Chinese manufacturing processes and quality has improved that much in a decade, then more power to them.

I was being sarcastic, but in general japan makes the best quality. i don't know if you have ever worked with japanese companies, but they take their quality pretty seriously. They will ask 8 million questions before they think of buying your product.

Blame the stockholders of the designer brand, that demand increased earnings quarter after quarter.

I own stock in a number of companies, so I guess it's my fault.

Other than the being made in China, is there anything wrong with the glasses? If there was something wrong, I could understand your frustration. But if not, you're obviously jumping to the conclusion that everything made in China is cheap and inferior to products made elsewhere, which is simply not the case.

Wow, you are stupid. You wouldn't be yapping about this if it said made by Apple if it's the same quality.

I already covered why I'm not exactly upset by Apple making products in China, since "craftsmanship" isn't exactly the most important part of electronics, as opposed to something that is almost *100%* dependent on craftmanship, like sunglasses. (the quality of materials, however, are a different matter)

Thanks for yet another trollish contribution to the BBS.

You are ridiculing yourself. I have a $300 Prada sunglasses and it's made in Italy and they feel and look like a fake version of brand name $20 sunglasses you see at a sunglasses booth at a malls. Just because you still think China is a third world country doesn't make their manufacturing structure/machinery are 3rd world.

Would it make you feel better if it said made from somewhere else?

totally disagree.. electronics have a lot higher chance of something going wrong or failing. Manufacturing high quality electronics is a lot harder than manufacturing a pair of frames. Like what other have said you get what you pay for. China can make crap but they can also make very good quality products. Get over yourself and stop complaining. Your glasses are not going to break unless you drop or sit on them.

this. LOL at the idea that eyeglasses require greater craftsmanship than electronics. also, OP seems to be conflating "craftsmanship" with "materials."

Hahhaha oh wow, you are ignorant beyond words. Have you even noticed anything wrong with your purchase before jumping to conclusion? Of course not.

Seriously, if you want make an anti-China thread, go to the D&D, they're happy to join your little circlejerk.

One of my coworkers is from the Congo and when she went home to visit I asked her to bring me something back from Africa. What she brought me was made in China. LOL

I said that quality of sunglasses were more dependent on craftsmanship than the quality of a computer was. Which is absolutely true, as there are zero other components to sunglasses than how well they are constructed (material difference remaining the same), as opposed to computers, which have other values to them that determine their worth beyond how well they are put together in a factory.

Nowhere did I say they "required" more.

    Learn to read.
