http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=26v5vhb Rockets get: Harris + James Nets get: Anthony + Billups + Balkman + Budinger Nuggets get: Favors + Murphy + Jeffries + Brooks + x picks from the Nets Rockets get Harris for Brooks. Harris may be over paid some but we will have to pay Brooks 6-8 if he returns back to form. This also keeps our NYK pick and keeps the Knicks poorer. Nuggets get young talent, expirings and picks to rebuild. I'm still not sold that Carmelo would to sign an extention with the Nets but that would leave the Nets with: Brooks/Petro Humpheries/Balkman Anthony/Outlaw/Graham/Ross/Budinger Vujacic/Morrow/Uzoh Billups/Farmer Again - not sure that's the lineup Carmelo is looking for. 500 at best IMO
Hopefully we can get in the Melo deal on a trade that goes something like this: Trade Machine Example Houston: Nene Hilario New Jersey: Carmelo Anthony, Kyle Lowry Denver Nuggets: Devin Harris, Troy Murphy, Kris Humphries, Jared Jeffries
Word is Denver wants to keep Nene to build around him and Lawson. I don't think they are going to want Devin Harris in a Carmelo deal when Lawson is waiting in the wings. Also, did you forget about Favors going to the Nuggets in that deal? I do not want Harris. No thank you. Doesn't give you much more than Lowry does, he's more expensive, older than Lowry and he's injury prone.
Yea I forgot about Favors. I was just trying to lay out a general idea. The main part is Lowry+expiring+pick(if necessary) to net Nene in return. The Bobcats can still get in the deal to get Harris instead so Denver could end up with something else.
If NO struggles, CP3 is unhappy, and the Hornets decide to rebuild: Brooks, Hill, Yao (exiring), draft picks (?) for Chris Paul and Okafor What do you think?
The following trade works on ESPN Trade Machine and on Real GM. Keep in mind that this trade includes NJ Nets giving Denver the picks that they have accumulated. Of the 5-6 picks, I would like to see the Rockets demand 1 1st rd pick back in all of this to include with our pick from the Knicks. Rockets GET: Nene, Chris Anderson, JR Smith Nuggets GET: Favors, Murphy,S. Battier,J. Jefferies,A. Brooks,P. Patterson,K. Humphries (plus 4-5 1st rd picks from NJ) Nets GET: Melo, A. Harrington, C Bud, S. Williams(DEN) The moral of this trade (and any NBA trade) is that you have to give in order to get. Essentially all teams involved are giving up a lot, but are getting what they want most in return. This is why they would do it: WHY the ROCKETS do it? The Rockets fill a position of need with an efficient 2-way Center in Nene. They also get a scoring, 3pt shooter, who is young, athletic, and a slasher in JR Smith. This pick up should allow Lee or T-Will to play the backup PG or starting SF. Anderson could eveutually be the starter but by playing him with the second group, you are guaranteed to get a jolt of energy, athlticism, defensive intensity (CRAZY BENCH LINEUP !!!...PG=Ish, SG=JR Smith, SF=Lee, PF=Hill, C=Anderson) PG: Lowry & Ish SG: Martin & JR Smith SF: T-Will & Lee PF: Scola & Hill & Hayes C : Nene & Anderson Why the NUGGETS to do it? In this deal, DEN can max out their return from trading Melo by collecting an abundant amount of 1st rd draft picks from NJ, which could total 5. In addition to that crazy amount of 1st rd picks, they would also collect: #3 D. Favors, #14 P.Patterson Aaron Brooks (Most improved player & 2.0 mil expiring) T.Murphy (11.9 mil expiring), S.Battier (7.3 mil expiring), J.Jefferies (6.8 mil expiring, K.Humphries (3.2 expiring) This would be a total of 31.2 mil being cleared from DEN's cap after this season. This creates huge flexibility for DEN while rebuilding and drafting. Billups would still be on their cap hold (13mil) for no more than 2 years, but he would be the last BIG/bad contract that they would have. They would have a roster of: PG=Billups & Brooks & Lawson & Carter SG=Afallo SF=Murphy & Battier PF=Martin & Patterson & Humphries & Balkman C =Favors & Ely Why the NETS do it? Obviously they land MELO, and to them that could be enough reason to do it. The key to this that other trades may not fully address is that Melo wouldn't be moving alone. Though he wouldnt be moving with Billups (because of Billups' extremly large 13mil salary), Al Harrington would be moved WITH Melo to the Nets. Melo has said that he want the team he's going to to be competitive and not gutted. By moving Harrington with Melo, it gives them another forward with range, size, and toughness, that could play the 4 spot that Favors and Murphy would have been playing. I could see Melo wanting JR Smith to go with him, and if the Rockets have to give into that, they would need to have Morrow come back to Houston in return (this would work in ESPN trade machine and RealGM). In addition, Rockets would send Chase Budinger to the Nets for additional young talent with 3pt range. The Nuggets would then send Sheldon Williams to the NETS to help with some needed inside size. The NETS would have a SOLID & competive lineup of: PG=Harris & Farmar SG=Outlaw & Morrow SF=Melo & Budinger PF=Harrington C= Lopez & Williams
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine Houston Receives: Andre Iguodala and Spencer Hawes Philly Receives: OJ Mayo, Hasheem Thabeet, Jared Jeffries Memphis Receives: Courtney Lee, Shane Battier Houston Depth Chart: PG: Aaron Brooks | Kyle Lowry | Ishmael Smith SG: Kevin Martin | Chase Budinger SF: Andre Iguodala | Terrence Williams PF: Luis Scola | Jordan Hill | Patrick Patterson C: Spencer Hawes | Brad Miller | Chuck Hayes | Yao Ming why: Get long term stopper and ball handler in Iggy. Cheap solution at C with Hawes. Hawes already knows Adelmans system and Adelman is the only one that was able to truly unlock Hawes's potential. Philly Depth Chart: PG: Jrue Holiday | Lou Williams SG: OJ Mayo | Jodie Meeks SF: Evan Turner | Thaddeus Young | Jason Kapono PF: Elton Brand | Andres Nocioni | Jared Jeffries C: Hasheem Thabeet | Marreese Speights | Tony Battie why: Room for Turner to grow with Iggy out. OJ Mayo capable of playing off the ball and knocking down shots. Jeffries clears 6 Mill off their cap and brings them back under the luxury. Now they need to get rid of Brand to complete their rebuilding process, but at least hes playing like they expected him to when they first signed him. Memphis Depth Chart: PG: Mike Conley | Ishmael Smith | Tony Allen SG: Courtney Lee | Xavier Henry | Sam Young SF: Rudy Gay | Shane Battier PF: Zach Randolph | Darrell Arthur C: Marc Gasol | Hamid Haddadi why: OJ Mayo and Thabeet rotting on the bench, Courtney Lee a better fit for the team. They get back Battier's leadership.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3yn8ntx Kevin Martin & Jared Jeffries for Brendan Haywood & Caron Butler
And what if we can re-sign Butler, we would have nothing to show for this trade. No way were trading Martin to Dallas.
Is Elton Brand that much of a franchise killer? We could get Andre Iguodala, Elton Brand and Spencer Hawes for Courtney Lee, Luis Scola, Yao Ming and Jared Jeffries PG: Aaron Brooks | Kyle Lowry | Ishmael Smith SG: Kevin Martin | Chase Budinger SF: Andre Iguodala | Shane Battier | Terrence Williams PF: Elton Brand | Jordan Hill | Patrick Patterson C: Spencer Hawes | Brad Miller | Chuck Hayes we would still have picks to shore up the C spot. Obviously this would commit us to a core of Kevin Martin, Andre Iguodala and Elton Brand. Thats $37 Million for each year for the next 3 years. We would have virtually nothing left to re-sign Aaron Brooks, even with Shane Battier expiring.
They can get better offers, rebuilding doesn't necessarily mean starting from scratch. I wouldn't hesitate in making that deal, because it suits us.
