Nice defensive game by the whole team, really. Even Kevin Martin was solid for the most part when he had Eric Gordon. But Chuck Hayes was just incredible. Griffin was beasting everyone else on the Rockets (and most bigs in the league) but couldn't do much when Chuck was on him.

I don't think Griffin scored a FG on Chuck until about 30 seconds left in the 4th.

Shane Battier with a near triple double too. What the hell is going on with Shane and Chuck? They are playing way outside their respective pay grades...

The Modesto Mauler did a good job. Griffin only did well when he had to sit out due to foul trouble.

Great d by chuck - as usual. Still, it would help our other guys if Blake wasn't already getting superstar calls.

He got one trip to the line in the first quarter, another in the 4th, and then in the final minute he hit an open 3-pointer (Hayes was helping in the paint) and he hit a tough runner in the lane.

I didn't count the number of defensive stops Chuck had on him 1-on-1, but it far outnumbered the scoring possessions.

Griffin is a garbage man. Like a PF version of Dwight Howard without the defense and shot blocking. He got his points off fast breaks and broken plays. When actually isoed against Chuck he looked pathetic. Actually I take that back, he does have a dribble drive. More of a Amare without the jumpshot, but better rebounding. But when Chuck Hayes is shutting down the actual Amare, Amare without a jumpshot is going to be in trouble.

One thing that I noticed Hayes do unbelievably well is that he just never let Blake get any separation whatsoever from him, even off the ball. Just wouldn't let him get any momentum or allow him to gather himself forcing him into fadeaways and off balance shots. Truly impressive defensive performance.

These are the kind of games that prove Chuck is a special defender.

I'd still accept him on the Rockets in a heartbeat.

You knew Chuck was going to be Chuck. In the interviews in the Chron a day before the game Scola and Hill were excited to see what he was going to be like in person; Chuck didn't give a flying f***.

Dude is a rookie, give him time to develop his game. Also consider Chuck plays great defense, not many guys can do what Chuck does. Saying all that...24 points and 18 boards.
