Texas gained FOUR seats, not two

A huge victory for the GOP, at the liberals expense

    From that article:

For the first time in its history, Democratic-leaning California will not gain a House seat after a census.

    And I see it's working!

Yes please republicans! Please continue to consolidate your influence on the south and relegate your party to regional status

Thats silly to think its only Republicans that are moving. People in general are going to areas with stronger economies which tend to have Republican administrations.

Whether there is a coincedence or not, i'll let everyone here discuss.

Florida picked up two as well. In total, Republicns gained 12 seats. Between this and getting to redistrict about 30 states, I would say the Republicans should be able to hold the House for quite a while.

As a Republican, I'd say that you have a lot more faith in them to not screw up royally than I do. The only thing worse is Democrats.

Not enough information - did these people move to cities? Are they primarily hispanics who typically vote democratic?

This doesn't mean much of anything yet.

It means Republican states (states with Republican legislatures) just got more house seats to gerrymander.

Without the extra information, it doesn't mean those seats will necessarily go to Republicans.

    From Michael Williams's twitter:
I assume that he means income tax. Among consistently blue states, Washington grew the most, and it has no income tax.

Actually Republicans benefit more than you think. Since the number of representative in the House is fixed at 435 by law, any time Republicans gain a seat, it comes at the expense of taking a seat away from the Democrats. Plus, now that the Republicans control most state legislatures, they will be able to further redistrict those newly gained seats and even some of the ones the Democrats lost. Call it whatever you want, regional status greatly empowers the Republicans especially if that regional block becomes a permanent super majority with enough seats to win handily in future elections and control Congress.
