I'm planning on getting my first tattoo during this holiday break on my right shoulder. I've never gotten one before and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of where to get one?
You can get some really good ones in Prison. Those have a more authentic feel. get a butterfly on your lower back.

Another vote for Shaw's. I can't speak from experience but I've always heard they're the best place in Houston....or at least one of the most respected.
