    Great points, Phillyrocket.

Also, keep in mind the position Williams plays as well.

SS is the one position on defense that's really hard to define, and is very much dependent on the scheme. Some teams like to put their SS 'in the box' a la the '46' defense (Williams would be devastating in a '46') and utilize him as a 4th LB, some teams just play 2-deep all game, etc. SS is much more variant than FS, who is essentially the centerfielder of the defense.

In other words, he doesn't have the freedom the FS has to make interceptions or tackles, and he doesn't cover WRs like CBs. I always think of the SS as the 'utility man' of the defense.

I suppose if Dan Marino were three people, then he might have heard of it. :)

I agree with you. Roy has not even done NEAR what Philip Buchanan has with the Raiders and Buchanan was picked after Roy. Don't you think the Cowboys were expecting to get the difference maker that we was in college. He made that one sack on Warner, but other than that and some tackles that any starter will get on any team, I haven't seen him do much. He was a phenomenal difference maker with the Sooners, but not yet in the NFL. It is way early, though. We'll see.

Isn't Buchanan play CB? That's a bit different postion. Besides, Roy has 17 more tackles than Philip, more than twice what he has. Yes, he doesn't have 2int's like Philip, but they don't play the same position. Plus, like we've been saying, he really been used correctly. JMO.

Suprises in the NFL these days have become so common, that I would be more surprised if everything went the way most people expected. No that would be a shock!
Gascon, did you know that their defense was being coached by Ray Rhodes? I expected them to improve greatly and become a Super Bowl quality defense. Ray Rhodes coached 49er defenses to championships. He is a fantastic coordinator, just not as a head coach.
Biggest surprise has to be the Rams about to go 0-6!

Amazing at all the suprises ya'll have mentioned already! This league is soooo cool. This is one of the main reasons the NFL is by far the most popular league in this country. Every community feels like their team may actually be the one to get their sh*t together and win it all! Other than Cincinnatti of course...

Yes they are different positions, but from most Cowboy fans posts, articles I have read in Dallas papers, sports talk shows I have listened to in Dallas, I kind of have the feeling that the Cowboys need a cornerback that can do anything. And as far as the safety having more tackles, that is the case on most teams RC, it is supposed to be that way. But, not only does Philip have those two int's, but the man has scored touchdowns! Something the Cowboy offense has trouble doing! Cowboy fans more than most in this country should recognize difference making plays and non difference making plays. Philip has made the former and Roy has made the latter. But, as I said, it is real early. And I agree with you guys, that most likely the reason is he isn't making the big plays is because he is being utilized incorrectly. Roy is so incredible around the line of scrimmage they need to figure out a way to have him there most of the time. Time for a new coach, don't you think?

The Bucs defense has not allowed a road touchdown, despite losing Tony Dungy. I wasn't really surprised by their excellent defense, but I have heard many others expecting a defensive letdown. One intercection thrown off-handed by their punter in week 1 away from being undefeated.
