http://www.rice.edu/prospect/faq.html [...] Are there minimums for my standardized testing scores? We do not set minimums for standardized testing scores, but our median scores are often quite high. The middle fifty percent of the entering class of 2000 scored between 1330 and 1500 on the SAT I. The midrange for the ACT composite score was 31 to 34. Due to the broad range of available subject tests offered, we do not calculate midranges for the SAT II subject tests. [...]
Ok, no one answered my question. Will they look at my score if I don't score well then score say a 34-35?
big school fans sure got their pride to defend, don't they. LaSalle Thompson.... ummm...sorry to tell you this BK, but, as you say, "there is not a knowledgeable NBA fan alive who would place Thompson in the same league." Plus, Pierce beat him by 20pts at AUTRY COURT their senior yrs....I was there!!! don't believe me, go to this page and explain why Thompson and Teagle aren't mentioned with bios and stats, but Pierce is. http://www.unc.edu/~lbrooks2/1982.html Keith Moreland....you're alone on that one. OK, you can have your nostalgic, sub-50% completion, field goal kicking QB star from the NFL in the frigging 1950s. I'll take Kramer's performance in the 80s, thank you.
They will only get your score if you choose to send it to them, whether it's the SAT or the ACT. And a 31-34 median score on the ACT is pretty hard to duplicate...if you think you are only going to get a 26, maybe it'd be better to look at a couple of backup colleges or just stick with one test (i.e. the SAT) unless you really feel that the rest of your background may be good enough to get you in.
I am afraid I will score a low 26, but I know I could get a 35 by junior year (I just started sophmore year)
They will look at your best score when it comes time to apply. You could take it 10 times and they will accept your best score as your "official" score.
I don't think Rice requires either test to become a student. All you really have to do is show up with an old Rice ID card (EBAY!) and request a new ID with your name on it. Poof! You're a Rice student, able to move into the dorms and charge your meals. Now, to get a student e-mail account, they have much tighter standards.
Depends on the school. Some will take averages. Some will will take all of the tests into consideration if you are a borderline student. Just 'not sending' your score from one may not work either. They do send them to your highschool, and they show up on your transcript.
i went thru all this last year... SAT scores.. all show up on record.. if you take it twice. they get both scores... ACT scores. you can send whatever one you want. but like someone said they might show up on your transcript.. many schools discourage taking them more than 3 times.. and dont forget about SAT II's for rice etc... those aren't the simplest in the world.. so you might want to start thinking about them..
There's probably no knowledgeable fan alive that gives a **** about either one of them. Great, you were there with the other 443 Rice fans. If this is about college performance, then B.J. Tyler, Terrence Rencher, and Jay Arnette were better than anyone who ever dribbled a basketball for Rice. See, no I'm not, because Keith Moreland had a productive career. Berkman's had one terrific season and one decent one. Guy could still turn out to be Joe Charbonneau. I'm not the only one. Ask Paul Zimmerman.
