That is a legitimate issue, he tries to avoid contact, when he needs to explode right through it. He is definitly a finese player. DD
I can't put my finger on it exactly, but he just doesn't look like he belongs out there lately. He doesn't look confident at all. Perhaps the bright whiteness makes him standout more visually, but that wasn't the case last year. Not sure. I'm just not betting on him anymore. Perhaps my memory of last year is too short, but it just doesn't look like his offensive skills are going to outweigh his defensive liabilities. I think he'll be a journeyman in the league for solid 8 years or so as a decent backup.
2 stars for a thread celebrating one of our players breaking out of a slump. Are some of you even Rocket's fans? DD
Yeah, I'm a Rockets fan and that's why I hate Bud because he's hurting the team with his piss poor play and weak mindedness.
I see, so this thread which talks about him actually playing pretty well is a problem for you. Maybe you should avoid it then, and get back to bashing Rockets players when they have a poor game. Maybe, but he is the backup to the backup, right now. Seems to be the same people that have backup QB syndrome elsewhere on the team have it here too. DD
Cbud is a one-way player. Unless you're a one-way player with great skill that helps our team win (Martin, Brooks, Hayes) then it looks like you may get traded out of Hou. Cbud is playing better lately, but even when he is scoring well he doesn't provide enough to help our team win. Trade.
chase is only playing better because terrence williams is probably breathing down his neck for playing time.
Very good question, what role or positions will he play? Williams stated his best position is at PG, but is listed as a SG or SF. I'm not sold that he or Lee can be our answer at the 3, so Budinger may keep his job, assuming he continues to shoot a decent percentage. IMO, Williams play will determine which players could be dealt for C or SF help.
Budinger's defense is truly awful. Even last year, Synergy had him as the single worst isolation defender in the NBA for the majority of the season. I bet it is the same this year. Aaron Brooks and Kevin Martin are also below par, but they have special talent on the offensive end. Budinger can shoot it, sure, but now we are talking Steve Novak, not "Ray Allen" or "Richard Hamilton". He hasn't shown the ability to do anything else consistently in a long, long time. I was hoping he would be a better creator off the dribble like he was hyped up to be by some of us on here.
Personally, I think TWill and CLee make KMart the likely target to trade...but that is another topic all together. DD
I think Bud is coming out of his slump, though he still is airballing some threes. But Bull said something very important yesterday, which is that Bud needs to be a basketball player and not just a shooter. The team's probably not as worried as we are about a slump. As long as he's aggressive, playing defense, and making plays he'll be fine. The real problem is that he isn't doing much of any of those things.
chase is playing like a rookie right now. I remember people saying that Last yrs performance makes Battier expendable.... problem is, he looks lost out there. I think he is more comfortable playing with Lowry than Ish and Brooks. So when Lowry went to the starting line up it probably threw him off. Eventually Lowry will be back on the 2nd unit, that is when Bud will have a better showing. Still his D is lacking....
To me it is obvious that Bud is trying to expand his game from what the coaching staff is trying to push him to do, ie use athleticism and slash to the basket. Now when he catches the ball he isn't catching and shooting in rhythm he is hesitating and thinking rather than just playing. He will be fine and he will be a better player for it all once he adds slashing to his game and regains his sweet shooting form.
