http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerrankings Ahead of teams like the Magic, Nuggets, Hornets, Hawks. Pretty amazing.
The Magic's loss to the 76ers yesterday, at home, did it (see previous ranking). These rankings don't take into account the players that weren't playing due to injury/trade.
Who is surprised by this? Sans our 5-game losing streak we are a .500 team. Four of those five games in that initial streak were so close, that if we won them instead of losing them we would have a more indicative record than we have right now. A lot of people look at this team and think we're going to have a rebuilding era like the Celts did: loads of losses and a high draft pick, combo'd with blockbuster trades. I see us having a rebuilding era like the Jazz did. Above-average team to average team, back up to above average team. No fancy moves, but a little bit of luck in signing a good player.
The Rockets have gone 12-10 since that 0-5 start. Not bad since they looked terrible to start the season.
Can pick apart his power rankings all the time The Suns are #20 tied for 8th playoff seed. the 7-21 Clippers are #21.
