Holy *****, C. Lee is shooting 50% from 3 point land, and is number 2 in the league? I knew he was knocking down threes, but didnt know he was that high in the league.
You haven't been keeping up then. He's not #2 any more. He's at 51% cause of the 0-2 yesterday but he is still one of the top 3pt shooters right now.
The Rockets nearly bought him out. Jeffries thought the buyout money was too little. I think it's a mistake to go through that route.
He has taken 47 threes in the 26 games he has played and made 24 of them. I dont find it really impressive cause he shoots like 2 a game and makes one.
The LAST thing we will do is improve the Knicks in any trade, with our pick swap still out there. It is silly how many people are already talking about it being worthless as if it is a foregone conclusion. Even many reputable posters act like just because the Knicks were on a little hot streak that they are now world beaters. Please. They've played one of the softest schedules in the league, with a point differential that is barely positive. Rather than an elite team which they are far from, they are still a mediocre one that on any given night can still lose to a Cavaliers team that has lost 10 straight. With a few additions we will have a better record. We might regardless.
Are the Rockets making Courtney Lee available? I think this would be a mistake. He's young, cheap, a great shooter.. and his salary is so low you wouldn't be getting any significant piece back. I expected the Rockets to look into dealing Martin to make room for Lee, not casting off their younger and cheaper backup.
A player with a great contract like Lee's can be combined with, say, that of Jeffries, and you could match Gerald Wallace. At the end of the season, Jeffries' deal expires, all they have left is Lee's contract. Attractive deal.
Why not? It may be even be more impressive than shooting more because you can have a great shooting night one night of 4 for 4 and then 0 for 4 the next night and still get 50%. This way he's showing consistency and the ability to hit coming cold off the bench. That's exactly what you want from a backup.
He's a solid starter too. I hate when people see productive guys off the bench, they automatically assume they can't be productive as starters (see Lowry, Kyle). Lee started, as a rookie, for a team that made it the NBA Finals. He's been a starter his entire NBA career before backing up Kevin Martin. He's a solid starter. He's a solid 6th man. He's just a solid player, through and through.
Luther Head was also one season in the top 5 or so in the league in three-point shooting. Just saying...
remember the start of the season when almost everybody called him "choking specialist"? i'm very very happy we got him for Ariza
