[RUMOR] Bulls Asking About Courtney Lee? Sam Amico, a writer for FoxSports.com, just tweeted that: http://www.twitter.com/samamicoNBA Anything you guys would take from the Bulls for Courtney Lee? EDIT: Guess I should edit this.. anything within reason that you would accept for Lee? The only guy I can think of is Taj Gibson, but I'm not sure I'd do a swap with them in it. The Bulls also own Charlotte's 2012 1st round pick, which has some form of protections on it until 2016 when it becomes unprotected. That could be an interesting piece.
yeah, derrick rose. But seriously they don't really have anything that they'd be willing to trade or that we'd want, that team is 4 deep (deng is overpaid though) and then a huge drop off to pine riders.
Bulls can't offer us anything. They don't have young talent beside from Noah and Rose and are unable to offer valuable picks.
This would be our ideal scenario. But if they weren't willing to include Noah to get Carmelo, I can't see them trading him for Courtney Lee as the main piece.
Still, if the Bulls offered Deng for say Lee, JJ, and Bud, I would take the deal. Trading 3 bench players for a starter is a good deal. Deng would take Battier spot, and Battier would come off the bench when needed. Still, I doubt the Bulls would make this deal even if they get something. They would get Lee, if they are truly interested in him and they would get JJ as a backup for Noah since he is hurt. Though this would hurt us in the SG backup spot.
Now that Yao is done for the year, those rumors sure are swirling! Bulls roster: C Omer Asik - pass G Keith Bogans - reunion tour? Kidding F Carlos Boozer - not happening G Ronnie Brewer - meh F Luol Deng - Wouldnt mind him but doesnt he have an "ugly" contract? F Taj Gibson - Already have enough PFs on our team F James Johnson - see Gibson, Taj F Kyle Korver - 3 pt specialist w/ no use on a "rebuilding" team G John Lucas - see Bogans, Keith F Joakim Noah - see Boozer, Carlos G Derrick Rose - see Boozer, Carlos; Noah, Joakim F Brian Scalabrine - no thanks C Kurt Thomas - no use here G CJ Watson - Would only make sense if getting rid of Lowry, Kyle or Brooks, Aaron
We know how hard they tried to sign Miller this off-season and Noah just went down for an extended time. Perhaps a possible offer would look something like: Deng + Gibson + CHA 1st for CLee + B Miller + Jeffries This gets them out of Deng's massive contract while at the same time giving them a defensive two guard that can shoot 40%+ from downtown in spot up situations. It also gives them a starting center that is comfortable with the players on the team and would immediately be their starting center with Noah out. For the Rockets, they get a 25 year old starting SF who can play alongside Martin. Deng moves well without the ball and is a good spot-up shooter. It also gives the Rockets another young big with upside (Gibson) and Charlotte's 1st rounder, which has the following protections: top-14 protected in the 2012 Draft, top-12 protected in 2013, top-10 protected in 2014, top-8 protected in 2015 and unprotected in the 2016 Draft. I don't see Charlotte being good anytime soon, so that pick should have some value. I may be over-indulging in this offer by including Gibson AND the CHA 1st rounder with Deng, but I think it could possibly be a discussion starting point?
Luol Deng is very underrated in this forum, his contract is not as ugly as people say, and he is only 25 PeAcE
Brad Miller comes off the bench to play less than 20 minutes a game. Deng would be our SF for the foreseeable future, Gibson has shown a lot of potential and the CHA pick could be a great sweetener in a future deal. The proposed deal would only hurt our team by allowing Jordan Hill to get lost 75% of the time on offense instead of 60%.
The Bulls wont trade any key pieces for Lee. They were aiming for some help, not trying to revamp their roster. Just look at their supposed targets...
