I don't think DM will hesitate to dump C-Bud the way he is playing. looks like is completely out of form. T Will might get a shot at the SF position if Bud is shipped. I am looking forward to that.
Gortat would be nice to have for sure. I'd easily let go of jeffries, battier, bud, possibly even lee (obviously not all of these guys, but maybe a combo like jeffries+bud, or lee+jeffries). Add Gortat to a solid core of brooks, lowry, martin, scola, hill, williams...definite playoff contender. I know this doesnt make us a championship team, but I'd rather win games and go to the playoffs than lose games and be a joke.
I'll tell you who Orlando wants. It's Lee. They regretted trading him for Carter who has been inconsistent at best. I don't know if I would give up Lee for Gortat. And I am not sure what the cost of getting a decent big is. But the fact is Lee is our best asset that we can probably live without. The Fact is he will be hard pressed to find minutes with Brooks back. His 3 pt shooting has been amazing but expect it to go back around 40% by season end. Still last night with a blowout he manged only to get 16 minutes. Expect to see Brooks and Lowry finishing games on the court together. So expect that number to dwindle even lower. Also with WIlliams on the squad the sf minutes will not be there either. I like Lee a lot but you have to ask yourself how bad do we need a big. Personally I think if we really want to compete in a 7 game series we need a legitimate defensive center. I don't care about offense but I do care about someone who can protect the basket. So if you agree we need a shotblocking big than you have to ask are we better with Lee on the floor or with Lowry and Brooks to finish games or Brooks. IMO A Lowry and Brooks backcourt will make coaches pull their hair out. Without Yao it becomes even more vital. ANd what about Martin he is shooting lights out. He may not be able to attack the basket as well as Lee but his 3 pt shot is like a layup. How do you justify keeping Martin off the floor more than 15 minutes. And if Brooks eats into some of those than whats left. And that doesn't even take into account Williams can play the 2 and the 3. If T-Will's defense is anything close to what they claim than he can easily take any minutes that we might have needed Lee for. I would even go one step further and say I still have hopes for Iggy. It's a long shot but if somehow we pulled that off than Lee's minutes would be in street clothes. Yes he is such a good player who is shooting lights out behind the Arc. But you have to give up something to get something. Lee is an asset that shoot and play D. His stock may never be higher. He could help land us that big we are looking for. Anyway it is a dilemna that we should grateful to have. I certainly like Lee alot but you have to give to get.
I could be wrong, but I think Morey values C-Bud more than most people think. He's had a rough first six weeks of playing, but once a shooter-always a shooter and he will turn it around at some point. It would seem Orlando places a very high value on players that help spread the court from the 3pt. line and C-Bud would easily fit in Orlando's system. You can also add Lee to the list of players Orlando would covet in any Gortat type of deal. The Terrence Williams aquisition may have been done to help the rockets plug the hole if they have to move either C-Bud or Lee in some potential deal for a true big in the middle. Who knows.
Agree. This team needs a true shotblocking big in the worst way and I have had a hard time witnessing the layup drill by oppossing teams during this season and all of last season.
Just saw on twitter that the Arenas to Magic trade could turn into a 4 way trade with Phoenix being the 3rd team and the 4th team being unknown. Houston Trades: Jared Jeffries, 2011 2nd round pick and Trade Exception Houston Receives: Marcin Gortat and Yi Jianlian Rockets pick up big men to replace Yao. Orlando Trades: Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat, and Rashard Lewis Orlando Receives: Jared Jeffries, Gilbert Arenas, 2011 2nd round pick from Rox and Hedo Turkoglu. Magic are able to get rid of VC and Shard like they have been and finally get Arenas. Also, get Hedo back which they've apprently been trying to do. Jeffries gives them an expiring contract. Phoenix Trades: Hedo Turkoglu and Josh Childress Phoenix Receives: Vince Carter Suns get rid of two dissapointing players and pick up Vince Carter, the perfect player for their system. Him and Jason Richardson together would be heavenly. Washington Trades: Gilbert Arenas and Yi Jianlian Washington Receives: Rashard Lewis, Josh Childress, and trade exception.
Please do that in heartbeat. I would trade the defense Shane gives us for the paint defense and rebounding that Gortat would give us.
JJ for Gortat is good enough to work in a trade. Orlando may do this since JJ contract is an expiring one and they are wanting to get their payroll down. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=248yrqu
Now that Yao is not coming back and the "inside-outside" offense is no longer a possibility, do you still think Bud would be highly valued by DM? just curious. I don't think so. and I agree, Orlando would love to have him. but i really really hope that bud turns it around.
Groupthink. Every forum will undervalue some, and overvalue others. How about Lee for Gortat plus a 1st-rounder? Of course, I'm talking about a low (20+) pick.
will not trade Lee at all. I am slowly falling in love with his game and he is definitely better than Ariza now. I read that Magic are balking at the Gil's epic contract. so they might be interested in dumping some salary in the end of this season. In that case, Jeffries would perfectly fit. and Gortat is overvalued here because Yao is down. he is actually decent starting center with a good defensive mind. I would not hesitate to pay $7 M for him .
I hope we don't trade Courtney Lee. There's only one thing about Courtney Lee's game that's bothered me: his tendency to jack a 1-on-4, early transition three-ball when we should be eating clock. Maybe he's anxious to put up some numbers in his limited minutes? Courtney, if you're reading this: RELAX! Let the game come to you. Even if you don't score, we can see how good you are on the court.
Although JJ is a Good Defender, Rebounder, Teammate, Capable Scorer, with a High B-Ball IQ, I think it would be a Solid Trade of Jeffries and his Valuable Expiring Contract for Gortat. JJ may also Benefit by getting PT on another team. NO MORE LAYUPS !!!
Yes, I think C-Bud will turn his shooting around and yes I still think DM highly values him as well. The rockets didn't play an inside-out type of offense all of last season and C-Bud still flourished within that system. Which player would you prefer trading between C-Bud and Lee?
We can ethier send Battier ro Gortat, or one of our young guys to Washington, Washington sends Arenas to Orlando, and Gortat here.
Anyone know if the medical exemption that the Rockets will get from the league can be use in a trade?
Dude, just wanted to mention, you have been on a roll lately with your posts. And not only because they echo my sentiments. Seriously, good stuff lately. The observation about Lee is spot on. I used to think Lee would be good starter material, and I still believe it. But the way Martin has been playing this season, and with Adelman's love of playing a Lowry-Brooks combo (i.e., I doubt Brooks will be traded, although you never know), Lee becomes somewhat expendable. Even now he isn't getting the minutes he probably deserves. The acquisition of TWill...well, however much of a headcase he might be, the kid has some extreme talent. I'm sure we didn't give up a first for him just to "JTaylor" him ("good practice! see that bench? sit there!") Wouldn't want to see Lee go. But wouldn't be stunned if it did. At least we would be doing right by him if he was sent to Orlando.
