Two questions were asked about Mickeal. First..........can he be as good as Derek Fisher? The answer to that is tough because he plays a totally different position and doesn't have the 3 point shot Fisher does. Pete is a much better defender and slasher to the basket. If the question is in regards to intensity than you can look at his record to see the answer to that. He is an intense winner and has never been associated with a losing team. Second question...............who cares about defense, does this kid have any offense? Answer to that question is a simple yes!!! He does not have good three point range (but I think the Rox have enough of those guys) but neither does Kenny Thomas and I would say his game is roughly equal to a combo of Reuben Patterson and Kenny Thomas. Most teams would love to have players like that on their squad. As far as 20 pts per game.................I agree that that may have been a high projection. Once again, if he were to start he would put up Kenny Thomas numbers with better free throw shooting and not as many stupid passes and bonehead plays (Thomas trademarks).
How are Pete's handles? So far, descriptions of his strengths and weaknesses remind me a lot of Shandon Anderson (who I actually wouldn't mind having back up Cuttino, but is not an ideal starting SG/SF)
As far as a comparison to Shandon Anderson............that would be accurate. Very accurate. Like Shandon, he can score 20-30 pts on a given night if handling the ball or be forgotten in the offense and score 6-8 pts. He's got good handles and would make an excellent player coming off the bench for his defense and Patterson-Anderson style of offense.
