http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-magictradetalks121710 This is part of an article discussing serious talks about Arenas to the Magic.
Sure, Gortat would be great and could definitely be a starter. That is not what holds this up in my opinion. I have a hard time believing the Magic take on Arenas' god awful contract.
Always wanted Gortat with the Rockets. There are not many centers available in this league that are any good, so Gortat would be an excellent option.
What is Gortat's contract like? edit --- Gortat makes 7 million a year for the next 4 years. Do we want to take on that contract? hoopshype is a nice source.
Will he play good defense, protect the rim, rebound and hit a high percentage of his offensive shots when asked? If yes then he is well worth it.
I like this, Marcin is young enough to fit in with our current group and unlike most Centers in this league he can do more than chew gum and give away fouls.
I would imagine that would work if the Magic acquire Arenas. They are going to be in luxury tax hell if they hold on to Arenas and Gortat. Patti Smith said before the game that Morey would be seeking to get the disabled player exception. I wonder if the Magic were really desperate to save money, we could use that exception and maybe draft pick consideration to acquire Gortat.
