Why does the President, use several different pens when signing a bill? I have seen this done every time I have ever actually watched the process on TV. Is it a souvenir thing? Do the pens go to the Smithsonian or something? I have always wondered. BTW, not to start an argument, but I am glad that Obama is moving back to the center. This will be good for the country.
He never left the center as to your question, from answers.com It is a long held tradition for presidents to use many pens simply because they become historic artifacts. Some are engraved by the White House and given out as gifts to those who helped pass the law. President Johnson used a rumored 75 pens to sign the Civil Rights Act in 1964.
Thanks for the answer. I figured it was something like that. As for your first comment, I disagree but I am not in the mood for debate. May you and your family have a Merry Christmas mc mark!!!!!!!!
I agree. This bill that adds a massive amount to the deficit while cutting taxes and providing a little bit of stimulus is so much better than the bill he signed in 2009 that added a lot to the deficit, cut taxes, and spent a bit on stimulus.
