Anybody heard anything about Hassan Whiteside? Most of this board was excited over the guy right before the draft, we seem to only deal with Sacremento or NJ lately anyway. I was at the Kings game and Cousins seems like a whiny ass but maybe Chuck with Kentucky seniority can put him in his place. Either way Yao will be sorely missed and if he comes back at a cheap price great if not he will always be one of my favorite players at least its not cancer.
i don't think whiteside is the answer. He has a great wingspan, but he is undersized at 235lbs. he is not exactly producing in the d-league either, although he is only averaging 14 or so minutes. he could be a good compliment at some point in time but I think it should be easy to find something comparable in the coming draft.
To be honest Whiteside would become a very good role player to sixth man at best. I do not see him becoming the overly hyped player everyone was predicting before the draft.
He is gonna need a lot of work to stay in the NBA. Racks up tons of blocks and a good rebounder, but the guy fouled out in 13 minutes in his 4th D-League game. He doesn't have an offensive game and can't pass. He's athletic and long which you can't teach, but he doesn't seem like the sharpest knife in the kitchen....so who knows how much you can teach him.
Great post Cousins is good, but seems to be a cancer. An we have time to develop him. He is very young and we should take flyer on him. We're rebuild mode now even though we will probably get 7th or 8th seed in the playoffs no Championship for awhile.
For those interested, here's an NBA fanhouse analysis of Whiteside's recent game in the D-league - against Patrick Patterson and the RGV Vipers no less. http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/12/11/closer-look-at-hassan-whitesides-d-league-struggles/ Overall the writer sees a lot of positives, but also emphasizes that he's very far from a finished product.
