Judging from the schedule it looks like it will be a double header, which means that both the USA and Mexico will probably be playing, just not against each other. http://www.sportingkc.com/news/2010/12/2011-gold-cup-kc-soccer-stadium
That is cool stuff. I don't see why the semifinals can't be in two different cities. I don't like the "four different crowds" at one place... what, are they trying to get less of one particular country? You know MEXICANS will pack it. It's not fair for the other three if it's a doubleheader. Yes, I am MEXICAN and saying that. Can't believe Costa Rica and El Salvador aren't already shoe-ins for the tournament.
I'm not a fan of the doubleheaders either. Especially at that point in the tournament when both games would get decent crowds by themselves, it seems like they would be missing out on some easy money. I guess they could double the price of tickets, but they are already pretty expensive.
I think that at least the top 6 CONCACAF teams from the last qualifiers should be there to at least get a crack to make the Confederations Cup. Imagine if El Salvador represents us in BRAZIL? then
What pregame events? And what's wrong with double headers? 2 games for the price of one, I'll take it!
