You obviously didn't read the original post. His thesis was that this trade was made to provide gossip fodder for fans.

Guys, he's right. I have been quietly amassing an army of 5,000 pissed off Rockets fans and we were planning on raiding his house and killing him and his family in less than a week -- but ever since this trade broke, I've been losing volunteers left and right. People are saying we should wait to see how T-Will works out. Now, I have to wait for my army to get disillusioned all over again. Now, I'm worried it won't happen until after the trade deadline, depending on how Adelman handles his minutes.

Not much to support that thesis.

Rockets signed Ariza hoping he could be a bust-out player. Didn't work out, but they were able to trade him for Courtney Lee, a good player they've like for some time, and save some salary in the process. As it turns out, and to my surprise, Lee seems to be the better player.

Nothing in that indicates the Rockets traded for Ariza just to make a trade. Maybe it seems that way because the Rockets don't take on a lot of risk in their maneuvering.

They knew Yao was going to be out when found the bone bruise. They where hoping wink wink nod nod that if they gave it some time (ie wait till we had a trade in a place to create a little buzz)

Then crush us with the real news that he would be out for the season it would hurt a little less with some good new mixed in.
