He got his first triple-double in the NBA last year and got close a couple of times, too.

I think Terrence Williams might end up like Jordan Hill, where he becomes a better player once freed from his old team.

Plus this is Rick's offense, so I expect some sweet ESPN highlight dunks from this dude.

None of us are saying he wasn't player, because he certainly was when he put effort into it. The problem with T-Mac is, when the going gets tough, he folds. T-Mac is like one of those blinged out phones or cars, all fluff and no substance. There is a reason why he never made it out of the first round no matter what team he played for and there is a reason why he was booed in Toronto, Orlando, and Houston. But of course it's not T-Mac's fault; it's the fans of each and every one of those cities being classless...

T-Mac had the potential to be a great player and he never realized it. Scoring titles mean nothing. Top players in the NBA have said as much. T-Mac was about helping himself before the team and that is why he gets hated on so much. True superstars elevate everyone around them and typically play deep into the playoffs. T-Mac simply watches the games from his couch.

    Yes...to maybe win at title?

And we don't play defense so there goes that idea.

I knew Morey was up to no good when this deal was struck. He knew something was wrong with Yao, and this was a diversion for Rockets fans, those that live in fantasy land, to get excited and talk about.

Nothing like a new pretty girlfriend to get over a sad breakup...lol....

Yep because you should completely ignore the fact that we got a top 10 prosect from 2009 for a protected lottery pick.

Morey doing exactly what you should do, acquire young players.

Is not like the other NBA teams didn't have the same opportunity to get T-Won't on the cheap...just saying...

    GTFO troll.

Did the Nets even announce that he was available before Morey asked about him? He was a second year lotto pick. Most teams figure that other teams just don't give those away for future protected draft picks.

Well you are forgetting the Rockets have multiple first round draft picks which makes the deal a complete no brainer for them. Terrence is still a complete unknown to the NBA, he's in his 2nd season!

For other teams to pass on that (IF they did) that is their problem not ours. You see this happen a lot of times in the NBA, young players (Yi) move around team to team because teams think "He'll break out here" and that does happen time to time.

i love this trade. he's a very good ball-handler, can be a feisty defender, and an underrated creator from the perimeter. he provides some athleticism, and i'm excited for his future - but i am a little foggy in what his role will be in the current.

Also there aren't a lot of teams out there with a TE that they'd use. Most will let them expire and only own them to save money. Others are waiting for that big fish that someone wants to unload (right). Sure they could have taken a player back instead of a pick but you are going to get a value player for TWill given his latest press so they wisely took a mulligan even if it's a lower pick.

So NJ had to find a partner with a TE that they willing to use AND has an (extra) pick that they are willing to part with. That combination puts the Rockets on a very short list. We don't have the most money in TE but we have lots of little TEs and thankfully Morey has been given the green light to use them.

I wonder if they make the TWill trade now? I guess they might since it is lottery protected.

Dude, the trade is done and has been signed off on. Twill already took his physical and everything.

Yeah, I meant...I wonder IF they would have made it knowing that Yao was out again....etc...and that their pick is probably going to be pretty high.....

The problem I see with Morey is that there's no longer term plan for a championship team. With Francis & Cuttino, later added Yao, that was the core. We traded the dual for TMac. Then TMac and Yao became our core.
Now, there is no core...everyone is on the shopping block. This is the problem...bringing T-Won't on the cheap ain't gonna solve that core problem. It's just a diversion away from saying what is our future???

I like this team, but we are missing the core...an identity to our Rockets.

Let this guy start now and let Jordan Hill start at center.

isn't that why Morey made that pick lottery protected?

I'm sure Morey had an inkling of clue on what was going on with Yao.

Obviously this is no championship team. As I've said though and many others in this thread, you can't just acquire another Yao or Tmac easily. These things take time.

What SMART teams do is acquire as many good young prospects as they can. Eventually they will land a big one. YOU DON'T KNOW if T-Won't is that one.

Once again it is his 2nd season and he's played 10 games this season. Look at Kobe's rookie stats please, this is not some exclusive thing. A lot of NBA players have to get it before they break out.

I'm NOT saying Terrence will do that here, but when you can get a top 10 prospect for cheap you do it.
