Let's look at the bright side: He's STILL more durable than Greg Oden.

At least don't have to worry about Yao signing elsewhere. Luckily, our team isn't as dependent on him as we once more. It's a sad story, but the Yao era is done.

I will be shocked if he doesn't retire after this.

Bad news, not shocking given the history.

At leat his contract is expiring and can be used for asset acquisition to the extent the team is willing to eat salary.

Wow... just a sad way to see him go!

I hate how Hakeem ended his career, I hated how Deke went out.. and it SUCKS LIKE HELL that Yao may end up going out this way too. :(

Terrible. A player like Yao does not deserve this. At least now the team has a more definite direction in which to go.

Sigh. Evidently, there wasn't sufficient strength in his lower left leg and that contributed to the stress fracture. Rockets medical staff fail. Again. But I suspect it was just a matter of time till the next injury cropped up.

    Sad day for the organization.

True, but Greg Oden can ressurect his career using his good third leg, which is never injured. I highly doubt Yao can compete with Greg Oden when it comes to that category.

I really feel bad for Yao all the guy does is train and work really hard to do well and his body keeps failing on him. I feel bad for him than any other athlete right now considering all the good he has done and is still doing off the court. One of the few guys you could admire in the league for his off the court actions alone.

sigh I am sure Yao will still lead a very fulfilling and great life I just he was able to get some sort of NBA success...even if he comes back on a different team I'll root for him to win.

I guess at least this is good that he didnt opt out and sign an long term deal last year, as cold as it sounds it allows the Rockets to move on in a new direction
