Roy was a joy to watch in his prime. So smooth and under control. It really is sad. He's talented enough to still be a decent player, though. I hope so.
He looks worse that Tracy....he's done. Not even a good knee to compensate on. Oh well....he made a ton of money.
My thoughts exactly its sad. Brandon Roy was crazy fun to watch. It's truly sad for Brandon Roy , and basketball in general.
Roy is so overrated, it's disgusting. Now that he's done, he'll be even more overrated by history revisionists. Not saying roy sucks but he was never on the level of kobe/bron/wade/cp3/dwill/durant.... he was always a notch below.
I'd say Roy was much better than Wade. He's certainly younger, and I like his skillset more than Wade's.
Is there any type of surgery to repair this? Just wondering. Really sad watching him, worse than McGrady
I think we would have gotten Battier regardless because the year we got the 8th pick was the year Yao got injured in December rather than his usual after All-Star break injury and TMac's back spasms begin to reoccur. It was such a sad season. To have pushed the Mavs to 7 games and then have the whole next season taken away from.
Nevermind. I just realized we traded the 8th pick for Battier. It sad. Imagine if the Rockets had an opportunity to build on their playoff run the previous season instead of Yao and TMac riding the pine. Injuries stole so much potential from the Rockets.
It is sad, but Portland can't be too down about it. A few good years of Roy is better than nearly anyone else drafted below him aside from Gay and Rondo.
Who ever said Roy was on their level? He was good enough to sign for max money, that's for sure. So promising; you'd hate to see that happen to anyone, much less a superstar player.
And at least Portland still has LaMarcus Aldridge. He is definitely a piece to build around, for sure.
I think he came back too early for the playoffs last year. I dunno for sure if that what ruined him, but he should of rested instead of rushing back.
I'd be more saddened over missing out on durant...at least then you have another franchise player to compete with and attract more players.
It's that "tough guy" mentality which did this to him. Those coaches that guilt their players into feeling bad for sitting when their hurt, because of that you get guys like Roy who push and push and just destroy their body in the process. The worst part of it all is that not even the so-called team doctors are any help. Why? Because they're extremely bias to the team obviously, they're under gigantic pressure to clear the players for playing time. Roy actually found out about how bad his health really was by talking to an outside doctor.
I'd rather he spend the next offf season on strength training his legs like dejuan blair... if he lasts till the end of this season
Roy and Durant were too similar (at least, more so than Roy and Oden). I honestly would have gone Oden too, since I already had Durant (obviously not knowing what I know now.) Roy and Oden, along with Alridge, could have been such a special big 3 had Roy and Oden not been bitten by the injury bug.
