For those of you who clamored for the Rockets to buy a first round pick in the 2009 draft, you better be happy. In the past 10 1/2 months, Daryl Morey has acquired two of the top 11 picks of that draft (#8 - Jordan Hill; #11 - Terrence Williams).

This is totally worth it!!!... Jermaine and 2012 1st rd(LOTTERY PROTECTED) for the former 2009 11th overall pick Terrence Williams.

I have a feeling the rockets are going to be in the lottery in the next two draft anyways, so its all good!!

Twill is a solid nba player, he is a borderline star, the only reason he is in the Dleague is because he lack professionallism but its not an issue of talent.

Good move I think. Williams has lots of upside, and if he has a bad attitude or plays poorly we can easily bench him in favor of Bud. Little downside to this.

Wouldn't it be easier just to acquire J.R. Smith from Denver? Smith is the same size and attitude but with a better shot.

They are not remotely similar... In attitude or skill.

Smith is more expensive to keep. His contract is ending this year while Williams has a team friendly contract for the next few years.

Except that J.R. Smith makes $6.76M this year and will be a free agent looking to get paid this summer.

Meanwhile, Williams only makes $2.21M this year, $2.37M next year, a team option for $3.14M in 2012-13, and restricted free agent rights on him in the summer of 2013.

I'd say that Williams is a massively better bargain for the Rockets.

Seems like Morey is just continuing to stockpile assets. Young cheap talent like Brooks, Lee, Twill, Bud, Patterson, Hill along with expirings like Battier and JJ.... at some point a big move for a true superstar should be made...

J.R. Smith doesn't play defense. T. Will does and he's a passer. I'm liking the idea of Williams in a locker room full of veterans. Also, he's comming from the D-league looking to redeem himself. Don't forget coming to a new team with the chance to have a fresh start, he is going to be soaking up everything Shane and Miller are saying.

It bothers me a little bit that he couldn't be coached by Johnson, who imo is a good coach, but like someone posted earlier, RA did have great success with Artest when Ron was young in the league.

Wow the Rockets just got more athletic!!!

Now we have 4 above the rim player!!! Chase Budinger, Courtney Lee, Jordan Hill, and Terrence Williams !!! And all 4 of those guy's should get plenty of playing time off the bench. Lowry might turn into a 10 assist per game player :)

If the right deal came along the Rockets could afford to trade Budinger, Lee, Brooks, etc....

Morey simply improved his playing cards. He might not win the big prized super star player he wants, but he has the cards that seem would be adequate.

And Lee, Hill, and Williams all have the potential to be solid NBA defenders.

This is starting to look more and more like a steal. The more you think about it, this is a very good move by Morey. If T.Will can play defense like Lee says he can, it's on!! ;) ;)

Hmm, so they trade Taylor and didn't even let him know until he showed up for the game. And folks get mad at players for telling teams bye with little to no notice (i.e. LeBron). Teams have been doing this kinda stuff for years.

I think this Nets fan sum up the trade pretty well:

Billy King=DISASTER (he has no idea what he is doing)

i just can not believe King pulled the trigger on this one. TWill plays 3 positions, proved what he can do last year, is young and talented, and got the wake up call this year. This trade depresses me b/c after being a die hard fan since ‘87 I want to walk away from this mess but know I am incapable of it. Why would King do this? why? TWill, Lopez, Harris, Favors was a nice core to build around with the already stockpiling of picks. He has no sense at all what he is doing. Proved it in Philly and is showing us right now that he is a fool. a big FOOL. how can you just give away TWill for nothing. A scrubby back up, likley the last pick in this yrs draft, and in all probabilty a pick in the early 20’s in ‘12. that is not enough. not by a long shot. If you know anything at all about bball you know that TWill was primed for stardom once he got his head screwed on right. Houston came back to rip off King again on a 3 way. I am baffled by this and want to throw up. How do you give up on this kid? How and Why? So you can get 2 more 1st rd picks to throw to Denver for ’Melo. King is an idiot and is gonna give away everything. At a minimum it is gonna be Favors, 4 #1s, and Murphy. So.. in essense the 2nd best player in this years draft, a lottery pick next next year, the golden st pick, and the houston or laker pick, an 8 mm expiring contract to a team that is up the creek with the realization that their star player is not gonna sign and if not for King they’d get way below mkt value. BUT here is the savior. The idiot who never should of gotten the job in the first place. A poor track record in Philly. You think Thorn thought about his when he hired him? You bet! Bring in this stiff and let him butcher the team I am leaving. Avery’s ego played a role here and while he is a great coach he is not a GM. This move will haunt the Nets for the next 10 years as we see TWill put up 15,6,5. Kudos to Houston. Unfortunately, we just gave away an integral part of our future for virtually crap. Only a moron like Billy King could make a trade like this. Please make it stop.

    What superstar?

    Fool's Gold Strategy

    I'd rather keep the pick.

Not sure why. A late first rounder would probably net a player as good as Williams anyways.
