    Yao?

300-pounder with one of the thickest bases in the league. His legs are like tree trunks.

Yao weighs in at around 300 pounds (if not more). Even if Yao could be considered 'skinny', would it matter when you're carrying 300 pounds. Anthony Randolph wont always be slim. He's young. He'll put on some muscle.

Yes, we make the deal. Knicks will have Carmelo next year and this pick will be value-less. Mid 20's pick easily.

Yeah darel paved the way for knicks to get amare and be a 'good' team this year in exchange of getting jordan hill. And now why not pave the way for the knicks to get Carmelo Anthony to make the knicks an elite team in the east or quite possibly the nba for the next 3 to 5 years in exchange for Randolph?!?!?!?! In which Hill and Randolph will in hindsight be known as 2 has-never beens in the nba who are serious mid-tier scrubs at best. But with morey, i wouldn't be surprised if he got Randolph and pave the way for the knicks. So who's morey working for here? rockets or knicks? lol

It is truly funny to read posts by "fans" who say this guy (Randolph) is a bust or we should not get him for the NY pick.

THIS IS NOT "ROCKET" SCIENCE (no pun intended)

WHEN New York gets MELO (either at this year's trade deadline or in free agency in the summer), they will contend to be a top 4 team in the EAST... this means that the 1st rd pick that we have of their becomes completely WOTHRLESS with regards of the Rockets getting lottery caliber talent !!!

The big question is asking if Anthony Randolph, a 21 year old, 6'11 multi-dimensional player/project with the skill set of a C,PF,SF THAT NOW HAS NBA EXPERIENCE is better than a 20+ pick in the draft.

The obvious answer to the question is HELL YES he's better than a mid-late pick.

Having multiple quality players at the 4 will likely place the coaching staff to choose if he is best suited to play the SF or the C.

I think he would be better suited at the SF based on his skill set. I think he will find more interest in playing that position that on the block, thus reaching more of his "projected potential". Is his long range shot where it should be...NO, but like every other player in the history of the NBA, a player's shot will develop with time.

Time will also dictate what position he will play as his body develops. The longer he plays in the NBA and the older he gets, his body will fully grow and develop into a certain way. He could even get TALLER  If his natural frame is to be long and slim then playing the 3 is exactly where he needs to play. If over time he grows a significant level of muscle mass, then you place him on the block and play him as a 5/4.

Worse case scenario, he is another Stromile Swift  ...after 2 years you trade him for his "potential" and size. There will always be a market for height in the NBA and at the least you could move him for a future second rd pick.

Either way its an all around WIN for the Rockets !!!

There's no potential and size when you're a bust. Stop dreaming. yeah 2 wrongs doesn't make a right thoough. Why take another chance and reward knicks even more when obviously it was a mistake to get a 1st round draft pick from the knicks and paving the way for them to gettin amare. Jordan hill is jst a mid-tier scrub whether you like it or not. And now it's ridiculous to take another chance on a scrub for a team who's in its current state. lol. Especially when the other team gets even stronger with Carmelo. Do you guys ever think of the big picture? You guys are talking like George Bush being fooled once and then twice..SHAME ON YOU. Please just be a spectator because I just hope Daryl isn't gna be fooled twice.

He may pave the way for the Knicks. To do what? Let them and Miami beat up on each other every year. And then we only have to face one of them after they've had to gut out 7 games against the other.

It is much better for Melo to go to the Knicks than it is for him to go anywhere in the West that is not Houston.

Our primary objective right now is to build a team that can knock off the Lakers. They are the reigning Western Conference and world champions. If we can build a team to beat L.A., we will be right there with Boston, Miami, and the Knicks after they are built out.

The guy has usable skills at multiple positions. Shooting range will come but I say let him play and grow at the 3 and see if he can be a Lamar Odom type of player. Everyone talks about developing young players, why not this guy. Tons of talent and potential and for the value of a pick that will be worthless either way because the Knicks want Melo and he wants them...If we dont get anything out of helping them get melo then who is the fool in this ??? WE ARE !!!

I hope we get Randolph and AK or Chandler in the deal because they will be getting a superstar SF for us giving them what they need (their own 1st rd pick) to get what they want.

    1st Rd pick + Taylor

    for

    Randolph + Chandler

    or

    Randolph + AK

BEEP BEEP earth to JOPATAMC..acquiring jordan hill and anthony randolph does not make them closer to being contenders...hell it has an equal chance of making them worst off than making them better. Mid tier scrubs won't make your team better. Jordan Hill sucks..he can't carry the team. Anthony randolph has an even worst inside game. Watch the games..not on their physical attributes. Rockets don't need another supplemental player who has a bunch of holes in their game.

At the end of the day, as a Rocket fan, the "BIG PICTURE" is only as big as this team and the Western Conference.

You can not care about "helping" another team especially one that is not in your conference. The person that you are really helping is your self by taking a super star OUT of your teams conference. This creates and opens the door to replace Denver in the playoff picture. It also makes us better.

We will actually get an athletic multi-dimensional player from NY for a pick that was originally NY's pick. What does that mean? We get something for nothing.

It really is a NO BRAINER

Hey, that Donnie Walsh isn't such a dumbbell after all, is he?

I'd definitely trade that 2012 pick, probably even the 2011 pick, for AR. That leaves us a couple of decent bigs (maybe even AR) we can trade. AR is definitely worth more than that pick; we're getting good value.

This would leave us with, for example, the following trading chips:

AR, Jeffries (expiring), Brad Miller, PPatt, Battier (expiring), AB, JT, picks in 2011/12 (both around #14, I'll guess).

    keeping
    Yao Ming, Hill
    Scola, Hayes (expiring)
    Budinger
    martin, Lee
    Lowry, Ish

I think all those chips, plus the player being replaced, could almost fetch a couple of All-Stars, if we play our cards right.

He seems like another Stromile Swift, all athleticism and no brains. IMO I'd be okay if he was traded for a 2nd round pick or one of the young assets but not a 1st rounder. He's too overrated for anything more than that.
