Carmelo to Rockets my Prediction !!!

My prediction Anthony has stated he will only sign extenstion with the Knicks!!!

New York will not or can not offer much in return.

They can wait till end of the year and give up nothing !!!

Thus Rockets can get Anthony on a rental as denver will trade him to whatever best package they can get.

We have the most assets in the NBA, any combination of the below.

    Jefferies
    Battier
    Draft PIck
    Taylor

maybe throw in Bud but i dont think we need to.

As teams know his only signing with New York they wont offer much for a rental.

The trade will happen in the next 2 months.!!!

Why exactly would the Rockets do this? I'm not MIT educated, but even I know you don't give up assets for a 1/2 season rental that clearly has no intention of signing long term with you...especially not including a draft pick.

Stop pipe dreaming! Anthony will only go to NY.
Also you cannot treat your scrubs for the best players. Rockets is not Lakers.

Great idea!!! Now instead of Denver losing Carmelo during free agency Houston can Lose him instead this makes absolutely great sense. I'm over the Carmelo drama thanks but no thanks.

If that happens, Rockets will be officially a joke in NBA.

    Battier
    Jeffries
    Taylor
    Bud
    Draft Picks

    vs

    Combination of:
    Eddy Curry's contract
    Danilo Gallinari
    Landry Fields
    Wilson Chandler
    Anthony Randoplh

Are you sure we have better assets than the Knicks since he's willing to sign an extension there? You crazy

we could get back a few assets from NY.. fields, dano, chandler, more pick considerations, trade exception..

not all of these but they do have some assets we could use..

op left out hill. i think he would be included in any package

Morey would do this in a heartbeat if all he is giving up is Jared Jeffries and Jermaine Taylor. I promise you if Morey calls Denver and those players are mentioned as the only ones, he will hear DIAL TONE.

    what asset ?

    jefferies - value zero
Battier - overpaid/decline possible he will be brought out and resign with rockets.
taylor - hardly plays past 2 years
draft pick - this will seal the deal with denver...

If we get Carmelo we will make playoffs,... and if he likes it here maybe he resigns here...

So why will we do it? Anthony has stated time and again he will only sign an extension with the Knicks. Why will we trade our assets for him when he'll be gone when the season ends? SMH

You know, there's always a chance the new CBA utterly screws UFA for star players?

At the end of the day, the owners can always wait longer than the players, and the majority of the players who need the money aren't the ones who would get tagged by it.

cause we need to have a winning season.. no more tanking...tanking does not attract top players... we need a winning season for the fans and morale.

if we have a good season it will attract free agents

and who knows if we do welll he might stay...

Because we can still likely S&T him to the Knicks for a huge trade exception, which,...........if the new CBA is lower, may very well turn into 2 almost max players that are dumped by some lottery team trying to rebuild. And God forbid, Melo helps us steamroll through the playoffs, and he decides he likes it and wants to stay.......

You see? As long as we don't give up too much, say, expirings, Hill, Bud, Taylor, and ONE future draft pick, then we can conceivably have Melo for half a season and worst case scenario, get him to pick up his option and trade him to NY for an $18 million trade exception.

would rather have those three players you mentioned and the pick than a half season of carmelo anthony. and i think your "worst case scenario" is the most probable by far as he has given no indication of wanting to play anywhere other than nyc to date.

I'm thinking when the new CBA comes down, there is going to be some teams dying to give up contracts.

What sounds nuts is the idea of renting Melo for the short term. Why on earth would anyone want to do that? What good does that do the team? The idea is to win a championship, not to have a partial season of somewhat exciting basketball while moving farther from a championship. Renting Carmelo makes zero sense. It's a loser move.
