http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/12/teams-are-calling-about-marcin-gortat/ I would love to see Morey go after Gortat and amazingly Ariza T/E is the EXACT match to his contract. Gortat for Ariza's T/E and 2011 2nd rd pick
Polish Hammer's got bounce, but do NOT want. He needs to go to the NYK or GSW, and play in an up-tempo, wide open system.
Don't think you can trade the T/E. It just allows for us to make a trade when the contracts do not match.
They need to make a move badly, they seem out of sink and have been looking to make a trade to get them one more scorer. Gortat is a guy they would move to open up some salary to acquire someone like that with a bigger contract and absorb a bigger deal. Not having a backup center is a valid question but it seems DHoward is playing more and more minutes and making the need for a true backup center not necessary. You can't just look at the numbers because DHoward plays so much and limits Gortat but just look at the per 40 the article stated and that could increase the more he plays. Miller and Gortat could make up for Yao's annual injury along with making him expendable come July, if he isn't already.
So, if this hypothetical trade were to go down (which is far from reality), then basically Orlando would receive the same amount of Gortat's contract from our T/E? My understanding of the T/E is that it may only be used on one player within a year in which a team receives it. It is not to be traded but it allows for the team receiving the player to have the salaries match with that amount. Therefore, my understanding of the OP's proposal would mean that Orlando only really receives a 2nd draft pick for Gortat. Which, if my understanding is correct, would not happen.
Overrated. This guy is the white version of Stro. Well, some plus plus. but still he can't dbe better than Brad.
